Lol.......da.
You forgot that Nintendo has a rep of handhelds going all the way back to the orginal Gameboy. Sega came out with the more powerful Gamegear and was beat by Nintendo. Same can be said of Sonys PSP, it was superior but Nintendo beat it as well. Heck even last gen with the 360/PS3 the Wii was way under powered but beat them both by about 15-20 million console. So it's no surprise, because this is what Nintendo does best. Take risks and innovates.
Nintendo keeps chugging along doing what they do best. Making innovative hardware, offering a cheap price and for the most part......good games.
Looks fantastic, it's a no brainier purchase.
Your math is off. Go to VG Charts and you'll see it more of a 2:1,3:1 ratio which is huge. But going buy that 4 to 5 times that would put Xbox in the 15 to 25 million range. Or put Sony in close proximity to the PS2. Depending how you slant it.
Well that's the point, they need to put up big concurrent subscription numbers. That's why it's a wildcard. If it takes off, then they'll reap the benefits. Yes, it needs to hit high numbers. But wether they need 20, 30, 50, or 100 million to turn a profit..... Well MS is the only one that really know the magic number. As for pricing, I don't believe they would ever bump it up $30-40 a month. That's not how those models work. But of course time will tell.
It always come down to two important factors. Price and of course games. If Xbox can turn around the games situation in a big way and nail the price, then they'll be competitive on the hardware side. I don't think they'll beat the PS5 in terms of overall hardware sales. That said, the wild card really for MS is the Netflicks idea to gaming. PSNow in it's current form isn't exactly the same thing, though that can change. But i doubt we would ever see (upcoming gen) sim...
I like alot of what you said, but the Xbox360/PS3 is a hard one to go solely by numbers when all is said and done. Their are some big factors people gloss over on both companies during that generation that led to the end results.
People like to say, that Sony was inevitable to win that generation and that is not so. Alot of miss steps by both companies plus successes led to the end results. Of course people always like to forget Nintendo won that gen hands down in terms of hardware s...
I really think they are just waiting on Xbox team to reveal more. But with all the wait regardless of their strategy, they have a lot of very anxious gamers excited for their system.
Well hopefully this means more single player games from them.
The AMD resurgence has been huge. It's going to be interesting to see the performance differences between them and Nvida.

Just commenting back. I agree the 80s were tough games to beat. I really believe the quarter mentality was built into alot of the games back then. You know, make it so tough that you stick another quartet in to continue. Plus alot of them didn't have an ending.
Really cool. Like the message.....deep.
Never had the patience to finish the game. But i remember how awesome it was.
Adventure on Atari. Played it all the time.
Congrats!!! Should be a epic ride. I'm especially interested in the emotions the game will invoke and of course the journey.

From everything they've announced, that's not their strategy anyone. It's going to be about services and accessibility. I think they would love it if they outsold PS5, but that's not the main metrics to go by. If they win in the category of how many people use their service across all devices. Then they can win this gen and will generate the most revenue.
Will make for a more eventful summer. It will be interesting to if the pandemic changed E3 and the like from here on out. But we won't know till next summer.
Already fixed it on chrome
I was disappointed to a degree, some games looked cool. Just didn't have that next gen feel.
