I'd much rather have unlockable characters / costumes / weapons / themes and backgrounds than trophies...
Didn't it came out last year? Isn't it a wee bit early for a "looking back" article? O_o
My thoughts exactly.
No mention of Persona 5?
If there can only be one japanese RPG in the list, Persona 5 should take the spot of Pokemon.
I do love the Pokemon series, but a remake of Pokemon holds much less promise than the next main Persona game, come on!
Also, while borderlands has RPG elements, and while it is a great game in it's own right, I believe a lot of upcoming RPGs are better deserving of being in a top 5 list. Tales of Zestiria, to name one......
This. Exactly.
Yeah I know nothing about anything.
One thing I know is that i was there back then, and that, back then, those graphics were high end, top of line shit, as it supposed to be today.
One thing I know, also, is that it failed pretty hard then, for the reasons I stated above.
I don't see how this time will be different. It's the same thing, really.
No pools and harder to kill your sims? WHOOO, fun. /s
Yeah. Right. Keep dreaming, EA.
VR has been floating around since the 90s, with moderate success.
I fail to see how it would be different this time. You still need to wear a huge headset, you're still closed off from reality when using it... It's pretty much the same as always, only with prettier graphics.
Gimmick, I say.
Some games are better with voice acting, others not so much.
An exemple would be Dragon's Crown. The narrator does all the voice work and it goes a long way making it feel like a true tale read from a book. If characters had their own voice, there would be a huge disconnect between the voices and the game's presentation. LittleBigPlanet does it too, and it's great.
But sometimes, each character with it's own voice is the way to go, like for Pe...
All depends of the games. Consoles have the games I like and most of these are not available on PC. LittleBigPlanet, Catherine, Persona, Modnation, Ni No Kuni, Atelier... All console games. On PC, I hugely enjoyed Terraria and I still believe it plays better on PC than on consoles, but that's about it. At least it's a game that can run on even the lowest quality machines.
Yeah, I suppose I'd feel pissed about it if I was a woman wanting to compete.
Too weird? Contra has Giger inspired bosses back in the days...
I think this list should include Persona 4 golden.
Perfect title to escape reality.
Best rpg, for me, goes to Persona 4 and Valkyrie Profile Silmeria. I guess it's *gasp* a matter of taste.
And what gameplay mechanics can the new gen do that last gen couldn't?
Joysticks? Motion control? Voice control? Gyroscopic control? Nope, all of that was present last gen.
New gen has nothing new on the gameplay front. Except maybe for the dual screen shenanigans with the wii u and ps4/vita, but then again, gamecube and gameboy advance/ds already did that a long time ago.
Gameplay has nothing to do with the console's generation.
As far as my experience goes, some games still control very well today even if they were released on the nes.
Some ps2 games are perfectly mapped to the controller, others are not.
Same for every generation of console.
What a strange thing to say...
Because someone actually expected something out of a transformer's movie tie-in game?
Really?
Just buy the console you like and play games, damnit. Enough with these articles!
It looks like gohan. But then again, all dragon ball characters look almost the same to me.
