i agree with you that the ps1 was transformative, but I don't think that it was more mature than previous systems. the Sega cd and tgx16 already crossed that line with a ton of their titles.

killzone was amazing but resistance was great as well. althpugh theybwrre both fps, I think that served different purposes.
still too expensive. to spend 80 for a disc drive on top of the base cost is a no go for me. Just because I can dorsnt mean I should, you have to draw the line somewhere.

the console generation. has been a disappointment thus far. Ps4 had better exclusives and the ps3 was significantly better games. this current gen has had remakes, remasters, psvr2 and a lack of quality original titles.

I can see if there were no rpg on ps5, but you have ff 16 ff14 baldurs gate 3 ff 7 remake. it's not like the rpg scene on ps5 is barren. one game not being on ps5 isn't the end of the world.
so youre saying indie developer hello games should be compared to bethesda/micro$oft. it really does matter who makes them because one company has basically unlimited resources and the other company doesn't.
I have a psvr 2 and the original quality games are kinda scarce. don't get me wrong the add ons are great but 600 dollars to play a few add ons doesn't really cut it. no backwards compatibility really hampers the system as the post launch drought is inevitable for most systems.
