The things you mentioned that were wrong with Halo 3 are more personal preferences than actual problems with the game. It is clear that you are a Call of Duty fan, as the features that are "missing" from Halo are present in CoD. Both games are good in my opinion, but neither revolutionized the genre. It was the earlier Halo's that did.

simply because it costs so much. They can probably air ten ads during regular programming for the same amount of money it will take to purchase a tiny super bowl space.
Of course, Sony hasn't done much advertising recently, so maybe they have been saving up for the game. Who knows...
because all the Halo fans(including myself) will buy it. Unfortunately, a bunch of them will end up hating it because it is a strategy game, and most FPS fans aren't too into that genre.
Personally, I like strategy games, so I'm willing to give this game a shot. I seriously doubt that anyone will ever make a great console RTS, though. Even Ensemble.

I loved the demo, and I've heard that coop is a blast. I'll probably try it out with my roommate later on. I'm a fan of the Gears of War/ Uncharted gameplay, and I loved RE4, so this game is great.
And nobody here can really judge the game themselves yet, as they've only played the demo. The magazine is infinitely more credible than anyone on this site simply because it is an official magazine, not some random blog.
Between this and Killzone, I'm looking forward...
Graphics aren't a huge deal. As long as they don't suck, I'm fine as long as the gameplay is good. Companies shouldn't have to worry about the quality of screenshots so long as the game is fun to play.
And what would your "symbol of high quality gaming" be? You may not like them, but the Halo games are much higher quality than most games on the market. I'm not saying they're the best, but they're not low quality.

I really liked the RE4, and this is basically the same game with a different story and better graphics. That's how a sequel should be. The demo was really fun, and not too easy or hard. The only time I died was when my coop partner got chainsawed, Gears of War style.
I was always looking forward to this game, and the demo only fueled my excitement. It was in no way disappointing to me.
I doubt that anyone will buy this game thinking that it's an FPS. Do you assume that Halo fans are retarded for some reason? It is definitely likely that people will buy the game because it has the Halo name on it but not without knowing what they're getting.
I'm also unconvinced that an RTS will be great on a console, but who knows? Maybe this game will surprise us all.

There have been many games in the past that I have gotten myself too excited for. Many of them were great game, but they could not meet my impossible expectations. Now I've learned to avoid hype as much as possible, though it's hard to avoid Killzone hype on this site. Hopefully the game will be as good as everyone's saying/hoping it is.

Well, they should have thought about the price before they added Bluray. That alone really screwed them up. Also, the sixaxis controller without rumble kind of sucks. Way too light.
And you can't deny that Sony has been arogant. Even recently, they refuse to deny that there is a problem. Just like there wasn't a problem with rumble-less controllers and barren game catalog.
