serves me right for only glancing at the article and assuming it was a digital distribution vs retail article lol.
Yes, in that sense, it seems to be taking a hit. I did 85% +- of my Christmas shopping online, and tend to buy most things online if i can help it. It's more convenient for me and usually much cheaper.
I think there will always be room for both though. Maybe online shopping will be the gateway for us to go back to smaller more focused stores ...
Retail is totally dead. Just today, I downloaded a ham sandwich, a pair of jeans and a case of beer.
Really though, as far as gaming is concerned, retail is dieing but wont be completely out of the picture for years. There is far to many people with slow internet. Also a growing movement TOWARDS bandwidth caps. That combined with the people who dont yet trust digital distribution or just like owning a hard copy, will ensure that retail game sales are here for a while longer.
yea, there's totally not enough hate on the internet & in gaming...
I think the next step for realistic faces is teeth. Eyes seem to be great in a lot of games but teeth always seem to pop out as looking strange to me. Seems like a simple thing, but even games with really great faces have fake looking teeth.
This was interesting nearly 3 years ago when the video was posted.
Going forward, my response to all this retailer exclusive pre-order bs is simply this: I will buy it used. This shit is out of hand.
@Rybnik, I agree, but this has been happening 'forever' People call the product with the best marketing the innovation even when said technology/product had been tried/done before. The only thing that should be considered innovative in those situations is that they were more able to bring x tech to market.
but thats a bit outside the topic ;)
I realize I am probably in the 'minority' on this but.. Every time someone talks about futuristic UI they seem to point to Minority Report, I for one want nothing to do with this. Holding your arms out in front of you for extended periods of time waving things around is NOT going to be comfortable. I think a mixture of gestures and physical device input makes much more sense.
Online petitions are rediculous. That said, the almost constant lag, bad framerate, and hit detection have made me put Black Ops on the shelf. It's beyond frustrating especially for a series that has run really well until now.
Doesn't he know you're supposed to let a game be awesome when it's a new IP first, THEN run it into the ground...
The thing is the 'working on a game for 5 years' is inaccurate. GT5 was announced (key word) in 2006 (iirc). This doesnt mean they've spent a full 4 (or even 5 if you wanna say 5) years working on GT5.
Since GT4 (12/2004) this is what PD has released:
Tourist Trophy February 2, 2006 PlayStation 2
Gran Turismo HD December 24, 2006 PlayStation 3
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue December 13, 2007 PlayStation 3
Gran Turismo (PSP) October 1, 2009...
It's misleading when people say 'the standard cars are just upres'ed GT4 cars'. This does not accurately describe what is happening.
They are taking their original source of those cars, and using those for this game. It's not as if they take what is in the ps2 game and upscale it to higher resolution. The source are almost guaranteed to be much higher quality than what was implemented in the game. Just as the GT5 'premium' cars' source is likely t...
I watched nextgentactics's video of it because i heard it was really bad, but for some reason I made it through the barrel part on the third try, and on the next part I just ran up the left side and made it to the flamethrower in one shot. Also the part where your on the tank heading into rebirth, took me two tries. Oddly, other parts people dont complain about took me much more tries lol.
Treyarch's poor sp design = luck of the draw if you make it.
With exception to that flexible screen render (which is what 3-4 years old now?) the only thing 'Stunning' about these, are how little time, effort, and thought went into them. One picture per page, misleading title...someone looking for click revenue?
I agree to a point, I typically dont play MP in games more than a few days with a few exceptions. However, these dev's are in a hard place. So many people swear off single player only games or just rent them or buy them when there at bargain bin prices. I'm ok with them adding (imo throwaway) MP to their games as long as it does not detract from the SP. And so far, there really hasn't been too many games that I can tell where the SP suffered from a tacked on MP.
FYI Avast! gave me a trojan warning when i went to this site, might be from one of the ads though.
This really isn't a Microsoft thing as much as a thing most tech companies go through. There are always high profile kings of tech but they typically burn out as fast as they show up. Sony ruled the portable music market for years but now when people talk about the possibility of a Sony product challenging Apple they laugh. Look at Yahoo, They were THE search engine not that many years ago and out of nowhere Google took over. AOL's dominance..gone. Palm pilot? The list goes on and on....
This is the game that has a ton of in-game advertising right?
I actually didn't understand all the hate for the MoH beta. I thought it was good. To me it was like Modern Warfare, but a bit slower paced, and my time with the beta, I didn't see any noob tubing, or grenade spam. I thought It was different enough that I would play MW and MoH and have similar but different experiences.
This article is slightly confusing. There is no 'regular edition' at first. Like several EA games, the 'regular edition' will be the 'limited edition'. So if you pre-order, or get it soon after launch, you'll have either the Limited, or Collectors editions.
In fact, go to http://deadspace.ea.com/#!p... and look at the section that states 'Free DS Extraction with Pre-Order of L...
