I remember when I started playing Quake champions via Bethesda's launcher.
The updates wouldn't work half the time and would take ages as it would have to download the whole game again a few times. I understand that it was in early access at that time, but I haven't had nearly as many problems since i started running it from Steam.
I think a lot of developer companies need to keep an eye on what their budget is in relation to the expected sales.
Making a game costs a lot these days, but I'm sure a lot of money goes on the bells and whistles that people like to talk about, but don't actually add anything to the game.
