Actually, Sony's showing at E3 is what turned a lot of people away from the PS3. Myself included. (Did you really just tell the American public that you expect us to work more hours to own a PS3?)

Yes, the XBox was not a profitable system. On paper the division lost money on every console sold.
But M$ as a company was never hurt by the losses because of the profits made in other divisions.
It is not a myth. M$ never gained profit off the XBox system. And the PS2 saw losses at the beginning.
Software sales are what turned profit for these companies. Even today, M$ still doesn't make any money off an original XBox. Also, M$ has a few other divisions that make up for the "expected" losses on XBox.

$1050 (core systems) and $1250 (premiums) just to own all 3 systems.

Believe it or not, I just finished this game. The reason is because I just purchased my 360 a little over a month ago so many of these older games are still new to me.
I paid $20 for this game and I think its great by itself. The releases on XBL just make it better!
