If switch was not supported by third party, I do not think first party titles would be enough to play for a whole year.

Yeah but in 2019 the console market is so much bigger than just Japan, Europe and NA compared to the ps2 Era.
I will say yes, but it is far from being the immediate futur. Most people still do not have fiber optic at home so even with 5g or more... connection will still remain variable when you play outside for the simple fact that wifi is affected by many factors out of our control. That's a fact.
Especially considering the strength of the PS store in term of content.
Back in the days you would have to go around town just to find a game for a previous Gen console. Now you can find over 90% of them straight out of the confort of your home. I kept my ps3 and I ve found games on the store that I never heard of and so cheap that I really felt like my ps3 had still so much to give.
The last time I was moved by an xbox exclusive was sunset overdrive.
I really loved that game.
I ve just realized I haven't switched my Xbox for nearly a year now.
My ps4 and switch takes all the small gaming time I have.
It s all down to budget.
