Yea ... I was surprised too when I got to know.
Their proprietary engine is pretty stellar actually.
RT is expensive. No easier way to say it. We've seen it in the prior PC RT-featured titles.
It's not a magic mirror that you suddenly insert into a game because you have the basic capable hardware for it and just toggle it on.
It's inclusion in a game incurs huge new calculations in the pipeline for the GPU.
You have to tune it intelligently for performance and mix with SSR and other rasterization technique(s).
Half of the time the end-user won&...
A chance blown prior doesn't mean its gone for good. They were aspiring to expand and achieve a decent publisher status along with having the development studios. Not always things work out as intended.
A re-negotiation can occur.
Don't underestimate the talent at Frankfurt. They know the raw technicalities.
Funny. The current iteration of id Tech that you adore so much is the result of the work by Tiago Sousa, the lead R&D graphics engineer of Cry Engine at Crytek. He was the one to turn the id tech engine around from the troubled mega-textures ridden idTech 5, after John Carmack left. He was at Crytek since the original Far Cry.
Look, Cry Engine is nothing to joke about. Its not an easy engine to work with. BUT the engine is really, really astounding when in capable hands. This is ...
IF MS has to buy a new Studio. Then just buy Crytek.
They have the talent and a very serious game engine. Plus they're the maestros of PC Gaming.
They just need the funding and the support.
Too long ... Also tomorrow's Japanese livestreams.
Funny thing, this game will also be demo-ed by the Japanese Youtubers during their PS5 hand-on events/video-streams. Along with Astrobot and DMC5. (leaked/rumored)
Got hyped after the 4K Combat trailer.
Now this ...
Phail ....
Yea ... they completely missed out Outer Wilds. Its amazing and very underrated.
That UI profile selector. I saw that in a PS5 UI concept video. Is this pic legit?
20-to-25-hour campaign, 80 combat encounters, meetup with 596 NPCs, use 146 spells and 150 pre-made faces to choose from.
150 GB free space requirement and 80 GB install size.
And all this from an early-access. Jeez.
With Crash Bandicoot and Ratchet n Clank making a comeback, we can expect Banjo Kazooie and Conker to follow too. Maybe after Rare finishes with Everwild?
And how about Jak n Daxter from Naughty Dog? A welcome change of pace?
Cory Barlog has teased sci-fi elements before though ...
And if this is indeed a new tease for a new IP, isn't the timing a bit odd? Given they just officially announced the next GoW entry but nothing more than that. No visual info or the art style. Not even the official title.
.
Edit: Ok. Its his usual very early tease thingy.
They didn't release Silent Hill 6 on PC, did they?
If you guys want a new modern FEAR but don't like the style of FEAR 2 or F3AR. Then check out Trepang2 on Steam. Its an homage and a spiritual successor to the FEAR1.

Perseus Mandate was kinda disappointing for me.
The visual design was more boring and the new guns were not interesting. The few horror scenes and the elite mercenaries encounters were better though but that's about it. Extraction Point was far better.
Project Origin made both expansion pack's story redundant.
Well, Tomb Raider was a Reboot after all.
Or are you referring to the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition? Where Lara's face was altered slightly.
Asking for a save transfer is "foot mired in the past” now?
When did that happen?
Remember when they changed Max's face from Max Payne in Max Payne 2?
No one? Oh ok ...
It has to be under serious optimization.
But then again, Flight Sim is very demanding for even the top of the line RTX GPU(s).
I doubt it'll be on par with the current PC version.
