Well, read somewhere, both Skyrim and Fallout 4 (and I think FO76 as well) were showcased at E3, just few months before the launch. So the same trend here with Starfield.
The only difference this time is that, the initial announcement was done a few years ago, becoz of some reasons, one of them being, fans complaining Bethesda is slowly turning into live service focused developer after FO76.

Cyberpunk looked better than most UE4 game of its time.
The next version of REDEngine would've been jaw dropping if they invested more in further R&D.
Looks like the CP2077 crash hurt CDPR big time. Hence they're reducing their technical R&D budget and going for off the shelf Unreal Engine.

Sony is also partnering with Deviation Games and Firewalk Studios to publish new multiplayer titles.
But the things is current studios are also shifting focus towards multiplayer/live-service projects.
Rumors are both Sucker Punch and Naughty Dog are focusing on a multiplayer/live-service game next. (Although ND seems to have 2 projects in development, but still) [And happy to proven the Sucker Punch rumor, wrong]

The Project Athia teaser was pretty intriguing. But after checking the recent Forspoken gameplay videos, my interest went wayy down.
If comparing in simple open world RPG terms ..... Hogwarts Legacy leaps and bounds (pun intended) more interesting than Forspoken.
This is one of the most awe inspiring game presentation we got to experience in recent times and I would love to see this release this year's end.
But with Gotham Knights already getting a concrete release date and Bloomberg's reporting of Suicide Squad's delay to 2023 from its vague 2022 release window .... I am guesstimating that Hogwarts Legacy 'might' get a 2nd delay too. Will be more than happy to be proven wrong.
