Don't get me wrong, this is a huge leap forward, but is this TV really worth your money?
If you ask me, No. Here's why.
1. The contrast ratio for these new Sony sets clock in at 3,000:1. For comparison, my LCD right now has 50,000:1. 3,000 of course isnt bad, but compared to other TV's, its worthless.
2. 240hz... firstly let me start by saying, nothing outputs 240hz, PS3 doesnt, 360 doesnt, your granpa's Atari 2600 doesnt, your PC graphics card doesnt ev...
Your eyes don't see at any specific clocked speed. They see what they see.
Having more frames jump out at a person just increases the amount of frames that person COULD see per second.
With 240 frames per second, your mind is able to comprehend 60 frames per quarter of a second... that means when counting "One Mississippi", you'll be seeing 60 seconds when you say the word One. Instead of just 15 frames with 60hz, and 30 for 120hz respectively.
For those with console gaming, 120hz upscaling comes with a catch... because your TV has to upscale 60hz outputted from console games, your getting some significant input lag. Not to mention games running at 30 frames are upscaled twice, once by the console to 60hz, and another by your TV to obtain 120hz.
This new TV from Sony is really only useful if you can run PC games at or above 240 frames per second. Not to mention you won't be able to do this unless graphic card companies ...
What a legal mess, good thing it's finally over.
Firstly, Guitar Hero games do an input lag test when you first pop in the game. ya know... that thing with the notes flying at you, and you have to time it right, and the game corrects it for you.
Secondly, I own the Samsung LN40A650. So you're trying to tell me your 52'' model of my TV has NO input lag when in 120hz mode? Are you retarded? I've tweaked and messed with mine enough to know there is a strong difference between a monitor that processes nearly nothing, and a monitor...

Just my two cents, but think about it... with this new design, when you look at the front of a PS3 box you'll be seeing the printed word "Playstation" 4 times... 3 on the game art image, and 1 on the plastic case.
Not to mention the old Playstation logo, the PS3 logo on the side of the case, and the newly established PSN logo.
And your not getting any input lag on the CRT set.

120hz for console gaming is really bad. Televisions have to upscale 60hz to 120hz... which puts out some terrible input lag on your gaming, depending on the model you choose and any other settings you enable, this input lag can be extremely unplayable. (Samsungs have input lag problems, this is proven because they would rather put picture quality before picture performance.
120hz should only be bought if you can output 120hz from your PC, or if you really want to ogle at some Blu...

Just finished my second play through of the demo...
Good: Graphics are good. Combo system is intriguing. Story is enticing.
Bad: PS2 animations, physics potential not fully used in this Demo. Camera is goofy (but it can be turned off).
Ugly: Movement seems rushed. Jumping is atrocious.
I will not be buying OR renting this.
