It's partially to promote to investors/ keep them in the know of what's happening.
But also when you're leading in sales you like to brag a bit.

Fromsoft has a really cool eye for artistic design that really goes a long way, which is why some people still prefer the original. The dragon in the opening for example just has this gravity to it. The color in a lot of locations don't have the same desolate atmosphere and some character designs were made less unique.
Both studios have their strengths and Fromsofts has effected the entire industry. You can't make a game with blocking and dodging anymore without it being comp...

Good move. A remake is an easier development in some ways and they can get a real gauge on how much people want it and how much was just hot air.
I'm about as surprised as the other commenters. I rarely hear of people having issues working with Playstation. Reading the actually article the processes indies needed to get through were confusing and overly complicated with little communication from PS.

I'm not sure "Formulaic" has REALLY meant anything. It's such a vague and honestly a kinda lazy statement.
Everything has some kind of "formula," a gameplay loop.
If that 'formula' the author refers to is [main character goes to place and does a thing, then leaves to do a thing somewhere else] congrats you cracked the formula on how to make a game.
