I suffered the YLOD with my 60 gig Euro launch model just after the two year mark. Anyone getting the YLOD or laser fail within the first three years should have had their PS3 repaired free of charge.
Console has been working since but I think the laser might be on its last legs. It's gotten an awful lot of use over the last couple of years. Every single member of the family has been using it non stop.
The primary cause of the YLOD is the adhesive the glues the heat...
Aus $699= US $585.62 - That's very expensive. As for the price of the repair again that's very expensive to.
I suffered the YLOD a few months ago and when I rang Sony they wanted 150 Euro to repair it. I found a console repair shop here in Ireland and he repaired it for 40 Euro. I probably would have sent it off to be repaired by Sony but I hadn't backed up my save games and had a ton of other stuff on the hard drive.
Sony need to look at these repair costs. It's jus...
Gaming journalisms excuse for a get out clause when not wanting to look like your flame-baiting.
Oh question mark, how your abused.........
Any site that just tries to create controversy will never attempt to do any decent gaming journalism.
After having read a number of their articles over the past year I gave up on giving them a hit.
My advice to other GAMERS is just don't give them any hits. They're not worth the time or the click.
Who were the first console company to do motion control?
Now that's what I call a thread! 214 pages! you'd never see the like of that on N4G.
I have no interest in waving my arms about to play a game. I love my controller and will always prefer playing games with it.
Motion controls possibly have other application uses though.
Did MS deny that the failure rate was as high as 54 percent? No. Very telling that!
I didn't see in the MS response what they calculate as the 360s failure rate either. And if they are improving the 360 design then why are there so many 360s still RROD-ing \ failing?
Wake up you gamers! MS plan to keep selling 360s with this design fault and others until they release their next console.
360 owners - You love your 360 - good, nobody wants to take them awa...
Thought you'd stick some 360 news in the PS3 section. Feel like a bit of flame baiting?
The games market is saturated with FPSers. Bobby Kotick's and Activisions attitude to us gamers has ensured my bargain bin wait.
First they put out the feelers about charging a subscription rate for MW2 and when they seen the reaction to that they decide to charge extra.
MAG looks like it could be a winner. I'm in no hurry for for this game.
CNET have been pushing the 360 solid since it came out. Don't ever expect them to change.
I make a point of not giving blatantly biased sites, like CNET a hit any-more. Thank you for posting the article.
I was having a look at GAME and Gamestop in Blanchardstown in Dublin and they were shifting PS3s! In Gamestop there were 3 customers at the counter buying 80gig models. I spoke to one of the sales assistance and made a remark about the 3 customers at the counter buying PS3s and he said it was the same yesterday also. He said that their current stock would be cleaned out by the weekend at this rate!
I didn't think that a 100 euro cut would have this kind of effect.
At this point in the current gen the only advantage that the 360 has over the PS3 is it's ease of ability to chat outside and inside of games. The PS3s chat is clunky at best and is the main critisim that my 360 owning friends have about the PS3. Sony have been asked for this umpteen times over the past couple of years and still no sign of it!
Yeah, I'm happy with the other features but the majority of PS3 owners out there feel that expanded chat features are absolutly essential ...
EA if you want to give Activision a bloody nose then start a games price war with them. That'd kick them in the 'nads!
you totaly hit the nail on the head there! This is without a doubt why the 360 still survives and sells. One thing is for sure though and that is that a large number of 360 owners will resent this with future generations of MS\xbox hardware.
The 360 failure rate is scandalous! It's embarrassing for 360 owners that have to replace their hardware multiple times. (They should be well compensated by MS for this and their loyalty to the 360) I've got friends that wont even mention tha...
If you own a PS3 and don't have this game you are missing out on an absolute gem.
The zone modes are out of this world!
This is probably my most played game on the PS3.
What has this got to do with the PS3? Who gives a hoot about the 360s avatars?
The only down side to these rumours is that Sony will be looking to charge us for some of the upcoming features.
I spend enough money on Sony products as it is (bought a launch model PS3 when it came out for 700 euro) and the one of the reasons I bought a PS3 was due to its online features being free.
Sony - don't try to nickle and dime us with this update!
I was pissed that Activision were putting the price up for MW2 as it was. I would have probably still bought it at christmas but now F*ck them. I'll wait a while now to buy MW2. I'll make a point of trying to get it used. I have absolutely no intention of buying this game new EVER now!
It's by far the best console (ever.) but I have to disagree with those other gamers out there that deny that the PSN requires additional chat features. It would make gaming together a lot less cumbersome on the PS3.
Messaging over the PSN to arrange a game is an irritation I would prefer not to have.
In saying that it's not a 50 buck a year irritation......
The themes do look really cool though.
