Back when Japan was considered "the" official developer we had games like Final Fantasy 3/6, Chrono Trigger, Mario 64; companies like Rare made games like Killer Instinct, Goldeneye, and Conkers BFD just to prove someone else can make games based on talent and inspiration - now its all based on "follow the leader" and who can make the most $ ripping off customers.
If they can add Mega Man, they can also add Strider
Dr Bosconovich would be nice to
Common sense died in 1999, good gaming died in 2005.
My top 10
1. Street Fighter Alpha 3
2. Rival Schools
3. Einhander
4. Bushido Blade 2
5. Metal Gear Solid
6. Final Fantasy 6
7. Gran Turismo
8. Tekken 3
9. Strider 2
10. Resident Evil 2
I miss the 90's Capcom
Back in 1991 when Street Fighter 2 first came out, and all the versions after it; I could imagine them charging $5 per boss character, $10 per new character from the Super series, and $15 for the "Super Meter" added in SSF2T
Rival Schools would have been DLC-heaven with all 42 characters on the Evolution Disc
Strider from MvC would have been DLC along with Onslaught, and the rest of the hidden fighters
I miss the arcades. Outside the occasional visit to St Louis for Dave n Busters the only arcade I even have where I live is down to a couple of broken machines, an unlocked DDR machine that half works; and closes around 5-6 pm when everyone wants to at least get free items from playing skeetball.
I vote to bring the arcade scene back; some of the best games I've played started with inserting 25 cents.
I have more of a best console per Generation; but if they want an overall, I'd give it to Arcades. There's a ton of games and series that wouldn't exist today if it wasn't for the Arcade scene.
I've mentioned this statement countless times; and I still stick by it - I miss gaming BEFORE achievement/trophies.
The one thing I can't stand is players who swear their "score" proves their a "gamer" and if your below a certain number your considered "Casual."
Another piss off I have with the scoring system; a lot of companies use them as a way to make a bad game playable. Back in the 90's we didn't need Achiev...
Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter
back in the 90's, sold more than MW3
now
Mortal Kombat vs Eternal Champions vs Killer Instinct
I'm surprised Coded Arms isn't listed, that was a fun game
What about X-Men arcade? TMNT was the shit I'm not gonna lie
@Kaveti
Namco with Tekken - outside the download to make 5 Dark Res. online I have yet to see them do any dlc for their games, and I'm a big fan of Tekken 3 and Tag. I have 5 DR online and 6, not once did I see any DLC listed or released.
Sega with Virtua Fighter 5 - Another game I haven't seen tainted with DLC; granted the 360 version has online but I play on the PS3 and no "pre-planned Extras"
SE with Final Fantasy - A lo...
I "was" thinking about buying this somewhere down the line...
But after seeing this, I'll spend my $ on companies that don't do pre-planned DLC.
Sorry Capcom, back in the 90's you were one of my favorite companies, but now you just lost a very faithful customer. I will only buy used from them here on out until they learn to stop with this pre-dlc garbage.
I'd substitute Policenauts for Contra 3; other than that good list.
Rival Schools
Strider 1/2
X Men vs Street Fighter
Final Fight
Street Fighter Alpha 3
I STILL to this day have the game saves of when I beat all 3 games just in case they are ps2 downloads instead of HD remakes. I'm glad I can play these again, now just for some news regarding San Andreas.
If 6 ends up being like RE5, this will be the last RE I'll ever play that comes out; I know there's a lot of fans who liked 5 but the scare factor was gone from the co-op.
Looks like I'll wait and see how "The last of us" turns out for my survivor-horror fix.
replace CoD with Goldeneye 007, and add Perfect Dark as an honorable mention
Thank goodness they didn't mention any porn sites :D
OT
F- anon, as much as I don't care/like Live, the customer shouldn't have to suffer because the company still supports something the rest of the world hates.
Didn't they technically "start" the market? I know there was some game on NES called "Sweet Home" but Capcom started Resident Evil and that started its own genre. Now they "act" like there's no market.
It's really annoying that back in the 90's they made all kinds of games outside Street Fighter, now they act like unless its an FPS or something dlc heavy its "not worth it."
