I agree 100%
Sport games I'd say at least every 2-3 years, have updated rosters as downloads instead of "This year we added features that we cut from last years game to add hype and make it look like its worth $60."
Fear Effect
Einhander
Bushido Blade
Xenogears (original PS1 version)
Rival Schools
Slow news day to have articles like this?
That's how a lot of people see it, including myself. When I was on Live I've noticed a much younger crowd (mainly middle/high schoolers) and PSN is more towards 20+ with responsibilities.
Like I said earlier I chose PSN because it's more of an option and not something I'm "forced" to have.
I grow tired of these "I've switched to X service" or "Why you keep Y service" articles; people have their opinions, most people "follow the leader" or go to what they can afford.
I voted PSN because I see it as an option, not a requirement. No I'm not a trophy hunter either so don't go arguing "What about multiplayer trophies?"
I'd rather have the game unlocks than some scoring system; I remember playing Tekken 3 and spending days trying to unlock Dr Bosconovich, and spending almost a month on Rival Schools trying to unlock all 42 characters plus the bonus ones on the Evolution disc.
There's a lot of older games that would be ruined if they added trophy support, because a lot (not everyone) would play for trophies and not for the experience.
Achievements/Trophies do nothing but make a bad game playable.
"video games are 'creating a generation of risk-averse guys who are unable (and unwilling) to navigate the complexities and risks inherent to real-life relationships, school and employment'."
No, society is. I wouldn't blame video games, blame social media; ever since the Myspace/Facebook boom people talk less to each other and more posting on the internet - why? Because most of the people they don't have to meet in real life, and on the internet y...
I prefer the original N64 Goldeneye over the remake. Just something about the new one doesn't appeal to me...
You'd expect at least Street Fighter 2 from the arcades, along with the Alpha series; that would be a collection, not 4 recent games, an anime, art book, and music.
I agree 100%. Too much whining and nit picking and not enough common sense.
I'll be damned to play a "casual" game; I want something that's going to be days to complete, if not weeks, not some 20 min game on a phone.
Gaming forums gone from "hey we like X game, lets exchange names and play sometime" to "oh my god, X console is so much better than Y and Z for -insert overused reason here-." That's a big reason why I&...
I wonder how much she was paid to say that...
I liked 6 over 7, however first Square needs to get the original name back to SquareSoft; THEN work on remakes.
I'm kind of that way with this gen; too many "online multiplayer" and "DLC" and not enough completed games or an expansion at least 6+ months after a game is released. Some games I feel are more of a chore than fun factor; and with the DLC packs it just shows they're more worried about $ than the customer.
One thing I've done since the summer of 2011 - slowed down buying newer games and started playing older ones since they were made with litt...
Looks like all they did was give you what you should get in the first place for trade-ins.
I still refuse to go there after what they tried pulling.
Uninformed people, and "follow the leader" types don't see that; they buy into hype and what other people say rather than fact and taking the time to research.
PlayStation brand is the reason why I still hold faith in gaming today. If PlayStation was to die out, I'd actually either stick to the older games released or find a new hobby.
This is how I see trophies/Achievements;
They make bad games playable because they know certain gamers will do anything just to get that one trophy or achievement just to "brag" they got something. Some games do have a reward system (extra characters, etc) but the majority don't waste their time just to "brag" about a score.
Back in the 90's it was called "replay" and "fun factor" that drove a game. Imagine if...
Not that I agree or disagree
A lot of people (not everyone so don't go assuming) looked at Dead Island as a "Left for Dead" copycat with a much better story and controls. I never got to play DI so I can't hold an opinion; just from what I was told by others.
I'd more say Genre's that need to slow down rather than franchises that need to die off.
It seems every generation you get that 1 or 2 games that sell a lot, then everyone starts this "follow the leader" formula till something else comes out that does better. I remember in the 80's it was platformers, then in the 90's it was fighters and beat em ups, then RPG's, then 3D platforming, etc. Currently its 1st/3rd person shooters with the occasion...
