The backdrops look great (well motion blur always helps) and the car models themselves are good but the lighting is still way off GT5-P. Also, race cars have all the stickers to help pad out the model and require generally less polygons than roadcar models as you can see by the thin-panel look of the bodywork.
It looks great and the perfect anti-aliasing on the shots helps a lot too. Car lighting is and always has been GT's secret ingredient. Have a look yourselves and put...
The funny thing is that I got it and I don't like FPS that much any more (not very good at them and not interested in multi-player) but of my list of 15 or so buddies on PSN from work, only one of them has got this game. None of them are mad PS3 fanboys, none of them follow PS3 news with any degree of passion but all of them got a PS3 cos they had a PS2 and all of them are still playing COD4 like there is no tomorrow!!
Many got the demo but it is like they don't understand tha...

It's ignorant one-system part-time gamers that lose out. Being into games is being into games, not hardware. If you don't have enough money to check out all the good games spread among all the platforms then poor you :( All the good games you missed :(
Is it not just the lack of advertising but could it be that just about every frame of the game is available on the internet, everywhere? Does it seem that most major PS3 exclusives have been opened out and dissected to bits before release?
Did the little given away on Halo 3 make everyone want to buy it to see it? Did denying everyone lots of footage and just advertising the crap out of it make it sell so well.
There are of course, lots of people who put their hands...
I guess not.
All the textures on Drakes Fortune are hand drawn. Can anyone tell me about Gears?
I looked from my apartment window and saw the quay below with all the boats parked up and thought that it would be cool if I could see other players walking down there, getting in their boats and going for a ride. The bowling area has a quite an atmospheric real feel about it with all the games playing out real time, the rest needs to play catch-up.
Sony really need to make everything free for now or do the one thing that would make it really cool:- Trophies=cash, cash=bling, bl...
I refuse to get involved in this but some people are spouting an awful lot of waffle. Many struggle to push the spell check button let alone know what they are typing about. My advice, don't read crap articles that have no detail in them even if they are written by 'experts'. Go find the answers yourselves...
...and the game is thriving. Creating and publishing is such a complete experience and so addictive. Over 200 hours so far for me.
Exactly Kleptic, spot on.
It is really beautiful. The 'trouble' with Six Axis is that it is like a tray with a metal ball on it. You either go in heavy handed and never get the balance or you are gentle and natural and it feels absolutely spot on from the first few seconds.
The gameplay is pretty simple but entices you in a trance-like state with a musical/visual experience ranging from dull, polluted and suffocating blandness (read artistic) to breathtaking, swirling colourscapes.

Good stuff, the sound is amazing!
Rather oddly, in this video comparison, the PS3 version seems to look better, less cartoon-like...
I appreciate what you are saying above but all the apparent coincidences between other brands ideas and then soon magically appearing 'nothing like it but better that it' does smell an awful lot! In fact, I can think of nothing whatsoever that MS has ever truly pioneered. (there must be something)
More like an attempt to 'duplicate' originality and innovation. Shame those words don't really go well with the word 'duplicate' It's a good job they don't make movies...

It is nice to see some MM techniques and mechanics. I hope they continue to do this sort of thing.
um.
Put out a film like 2001 for today's audience and it would flop as being simply too hard to sit still with for an hour and a half while 'nothing happens'. No wonder LBP was less than stellar, it requires imagination, creativity and artistic ability for an audience and when was the last time you heard of a gamer possessing those qualities?
Videogames attempted to grow up but the toy guns are still the kiddies favorite :(
The pattern has a Meta-Knitic score of 95 - sigh.
I would have agreed with you on that particular level (mostly) on evidence so far 'likedamaster' until KZ2 took a dump on my 360 thanks to GG bothering to create an engine for the PS3 rather than using botched code and recently, on a different level, with games like Flower in which beauty and artistic prowess started to mean more than just technical specs proving it's more what you do with it. In fact, even games like Mario Galaxy have qualities that for their own reasons drop jaws.
