Perversely, the best thing MS did was introduce the 3-year warranty for the XBOX360 (albeit under duress from the law). It's great to know in the back of your mind that when your console is going to fail, you can send it away and have it repaired for free - as long as it's in the 3 year warranty.
When you're buying the XBOX360, you're thinking, "3 years is a long time, who cares if it breaks? It'll be repaired." It's this kind of thinking on the part of overly-cautious...

If these are fake problems cooked up by xbox fanboys (I'm not saying they are), I can see a lot of people being put off from buying a PS3, especially the uber-cautious consumer who is being bombarded with stories of PS3 YLOD's, sky-high PS3 repairs, Blu-ray laser problems, etc,. I've defended Teletext in the past, but I have a horrible feeling about their UC2 review. They do have a predisposition to look down their noses at other reviewers who rate games highly, much like a parent tells his hyper-active kid to "calm down."
They usually give 10/10 games a 9/10, and 9/10 games are awarded 8/10 so going by this rationale they will award UC2 with 9/10 (and deliberately go out of their way NOT to give the full 10).

Nothing is ever THAT good. As wonderful and breathtaking as UC2 is going to be, the hype machine needs to be turned down a couple of notch's. Yes, I'm buying the PS3 Slim bundle with UC2, so I'm not a fanboy of any category, therefore I'm not bagging on UC2 just because I've been left to fiddle with ODST all winter. I've always loved Gran Turismo's WRC mode - right back to GT2 on the PS1. I know GT is meant to be a simulator but it was really enjoyable. The only racing game IMO that replicated that sense of authenticity and joy of the GT WRC mode on Gran Turismo was Rallisport Challenge 1 on the first XBOX - that was awesome too.
Granted, the PS3 was at the time of release, (and most would say still is) pretty high-tech, Sony obviously wanted people to pay top-dollar for it. But did they go overboard with the high price?
