The fact of the matter is, this article is RIGHT in pointing out that Microsoft's Xbox division does not have unlimited funs to throw around.
It's difficult to say whether the recent closing of various 1st party Microsoft developers is a reflection of Microsoft's desire to reduce costs in the Xbox division or not. I personally would guess that it is indeed an attempt to lower development costs and increase profits. And this leaves me feeling conflicted...

I believe that Square SHOULD at least announce some positive news for the PS3. That being said, I don't know how likely it is...
I mean, I'm not going to rant and rave about how they "betrayed" Sony, but there is definitely no denying that the 360 has been receiving a lot more of Square's attention than the PS3 of late. Financially, it does indeed make sense to publish their games (re: FF13) on the X360. I mean, more consoles = more sales, right?
Which is w...
Man... You know you're dealing with a fast-paced game when even just looking at still pictures makes you feel like you have epilepsy...
I think too many PS3 fans (such as myself) dismiss you simply because you come off... Well you come off as a bit of a d!ck. But maybe you have to because every time you make a comment expressing your honest opinion about the PS3's downside, you get attacked. Or maybe you're just a d!ck, who knows.
The point is that I'm actually going to take the time and CALMLY argue against your not altogether incorrect point of view. Now, the point you're trying to make is that the PS3 was wron...
I have to admit, when I heard that video sharing was potentially going to be excluded from Home due to piracy issues (still not sure if this is confirmed yet), I was very disappointed. I thought it was a huge blow to the Home app. But now that I see how clever they are being with these online game rooms (even for single player games), my hope is renewed.
As many of you pointed out, Home will most definitely be buggy upon release. On top of that, it's likely going to be pretty bare bones. I suspect Sony plans on releasing more and more updates and features to it over the next couple of years.
BUT, when it's released (hopefully this October), you KNOW that there is going to be a WHOLE bunch of "reviews" of this app stating how it is pretty basic and certainly not worth the wait and hype. Mark my words, it is going to get ...
Those are some angry Aussies...
... by the fact that, as mentioned by earlier posters, Square Enix has yet to announce a re-make of FF7. While I am one of those who have adopted the school of thought that a re-make of FF7 is a very risky proposition (what with the chances of screwing it up and stuff), it is not FINANCIALLY risky. In fact, it's quite possibly the easiest gajillion dollars Square Enix could ever make. My only thought is that maybe they wanted to perfect a PS3/next gen toolset (Crystal for FF13) before startin...
Well, I love my PS3 and it really hurts to admit this, by I agree with you to a certain exten, Thor. There IS a lack of coherence and communication between the PR people and the Devs and it IS leading to fudged up promises and services.
But I would say that the main issue is that all of these services are coming after the launch of the PS3 and they therefore have to be added in "on the fly" (so to speak). It's very difficult to implement something and then have all gam...
But, as a PS3 owner, I will be very disappointed if this does not make it in to the final version. Though I must admit that BulletToothTony's remarks (see 13) are heartening and have restored my hope. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...
Two thirds strikes me as a rather ambitious estimate. I mean, you have to ask yourself how many of the people who bought the game for the 360 ever played it online. Now, if THAT number is greater than two thirds (which I'm not entirely convinced it is, though it certainly could be), what percentage will then go on to take the time to log on and pay for the additional content.
As it stands, I think that that number will be considerably less than two thirds of those who purchased t...
Sigh... While some of your arguments were actually coherent and raised a glimmer of hope in my heart, you concluded by missing the point of the article entirely.
The article is not, I repeat NOT complaining that the Gamestop stores in the US (I'm Canadian and have EBgames) are populated by 360 "fanboys" (*shudder* I hate using that word). In fact, some of your arguments as to why there are more 360 fans in the US are quite logical ("they got their first taste of cu...
"When PS3 outsold X360 nobody brings News about it Outsolding the 360 by a litle."
Yikes. The phonics monkey must be spinning around in his grave.
Anyways, back on topic:
I don't really know what to believe here. On the surface, it seems like the 360 beat the PS3 by a not completely inconsequential 10,000 units during the month of August. But now there are people crying left and right about how the NPD discounts bundle sales, which would be a HUGE dea...
I misspelled "their" in the last paragraph... I'm gonna get ripped apart by the grammar freaks on this site.
Exclusives, third party ones at least, ARE a dying trend. And I blame it ENTIRELY on the rapidly advancing technology in consoles. It costs SO much money and takes SO much more time to develop games this gen that it becomes much more difficult to actually MAKE money on a game.
Now, that being said, do I regret the way console gaming is headed? Hell no! I'm happy that we have such powerful machines and that the design companies take so bloody long and spend so much money designin...
While I have to say that this list is pretty damn terrible, I actually agree that the 360 will likely beat the PS3 handily at US retail this holiday. It may only be at retail, it may only be a short lived lead, but I would be very surprised if the 360 DOESN'T sell more consoles in the US this winter.
Let me start off by saying that this has little to do with the game line up. As it stands, it's a toss up as to which console as the better games already out (depends on preference o...
I agree with you Dlacy13g. I would be SHOCKED if Bethesda did not produce many more 360 versions of the game than PS3 versions. That being said, it still goes to show that they grossly underestimated how well it would sell on the PS3.
Back on topic:
Despite some of you saying that this game is less important to PS3 gamers because of our strong fall line up, I (as a PS3 owner and ONLY a PS3 owner) am REALLY looking forward to it. Regrettably, I never got the chance to play ...
While I do agree that this is clearly pompous rhetoric, it's hardly fair to lay this tripe at Sony's feet. These are just ramblings taken from the blog of some over-zealous Sony enthusiast.
Now being a slightly LESS zealous Sony enthusiast myself, I do agree with some aspects of this guy's... uh... "message". For example, I agree that both Bluray and the Cell are incredibly important for video games (and other media as well) and have certainly helped to push the medium ...
I feel that the main cause of demand in this gen of consoles (and in previous ones) is word of mouth and popular perception. That is why the novelty of the Wii's controller and its relative unavailability at retail are so important. Kids (and adults) here about the Wii and what it can do or see it at a friends place and want it. The widespread knowledge of its unavailability make it really seem like a hot item, make it seem like something that people are LUCKY to be able to purchase. A strong...
For the kind words, gents.
