Yeah I don't get it either. I never saw any hype from anywhere. Just MS updating/improving the format. You want to see hype check out EA/DICE lately. Not a days goes by without them bashing the competition.
It doesn't seem like it's hard to get into this Guiness book of world records I mean just come up with something crazy like have someone kick you in the nuts a bunch of times and there you go world record for most nut kicks.

Valve games always sell very well on PC. Same with Blizzard.
1gb can go a ways if done right. I mean just look at what devs are working with now.
Nintendo has never really been about powerful hardware. I mean the SNES was released what 2 years after the Genesis and was only slightly better. And the Wii is for the most part a gamecube. I believe the N64 was their most powerful system out but even then it was still cartridge based. HW doesn't sell Nintendo products, the games and classic icons do.

I will never buy another Treyarch game and especially not on PS3. At least IW could make a game that worked across all systems even it did have its share of bugs.
