I don't care about HD remakes either. When a NEW system comes out, I want NEW games.
If I want to play the old games, (which rarely happens) I'll break out the old system.
I don't understand why everyone thinks backwards compatibility is important. Just keep your old systems. PS3 has proven the problems with trying to force BC into a system.
When a new system comes out it should be looking ahead without dragging its feet with old tech crammed in.

The huge jump this gen is mainly due to HDTVs and online. Those were really game changers (all puns intended).

Actually, Nintendo seems to being getting by just fine without the old fanbase. They moved on to a bigger fanbase with more free money.
The core gamers might not like it, but I'm sure Nintendo has no problem rolling in money.
Console prices don't bug me, $60 a game bugs me.
The DS was successful because the of new touch screen and new style games like Brain Age and Nintendogs.
The Wii was successful because of the new motion controls and new style games like Wii Sports and Wii Fitness.
The NGP really needs a killer app/game. PS3 game remakes won't be enough. It needs something that is purely its own, gives itself an identity, and will make people go out and spend the money.

It's interesting that it kind of follows the LEFT/RIGHT of politics. I'm in the United States, and a lot of people here like to assume that there are only two types of people, Liberals/Conservatives, as if it was as distinct as Male/Female. They leave no room for middle or moderate or mixed.

Looking for clues and interrogating suspects is ACTUAL gameplay. Just because you're not involved in "action" doesn't mean there's no "gameplay".
If you've played other investigation type games like Heavy Rain, Phoenix Wright, Hotel Dusk, etc.. you'd realize that's how detective games work.
If you just want to shoot stuff, play one of the hundreds of shooters that have been released.
They haven't had time to complain about it since they are all getting ready for Jesus to come get them Saturday.

I agree with the article. To me, it's like a full sized Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney game. And that's a good thing.

Why doesn't something need to change? Console games sell more than PC games. Seems to me that people don't care if the consoles are a bit behind.
80% of the people that bought Crysis 2 on a console don't know that the PC version looks better, most would not be able to tell the difference.
The other 20% prefer the convenience of being able to pop in the disk and sit on the couch and play and not worry about hardware configurations,...

You can play your current library right now. When the PS4 comes out, your PS3 doesn't magically stop working. You can keep the PS3 and use it for what it's for: PS3 GAMES.
There's a reason that there are no CD drives in iPods. Technology is moving on.
BC means more than the few chips on the motherboard. It would also mean you will need the same Blueray/DVD drives as previous gens, similar controllers, similar online networks to play them online, ...
