Lateness Awaits.
If it means that they can secretly spruce up the game even more, that's great. If it's so they can get enough copies for some far flung island inhabited only by giant enemy crabs, I'm not so sure.
"In an effort to meet the considerable worldwide demand, and to ensure that all gamers worldwide have the opportunity to play the game on day one"
So they're going to delay a game so that the territories in which it sells far more than others have to wait so that all the smaller places have their versions ready?
Or is there more to it?
Phil talking candidly about what he likes on PS4 is refreshing. He is realistic - why would a gamer not want to play some of Sony's games?
Upgradeable Xbox needs to be their focus for the future. The Xbox becomes in effect your mid range PC which can be upgraded to the very highest PC settings so no need to buy a PC. Many people (who can afford it) will then buy both an Xbox AND a PS4.
'A rising tide causes all ships to rise as well'.
It's a lovely sentiment that they made but, in reality, only true if each ship can repair damages to itself or can count on its competitors not to try to take excessive advantage of its damages. And I think all the games companies do now want it to be true so it will be so. Phil Spencer praises Sony and Nintendo for instance, knows that gaming wouldn't be richer if they were out of the picture.

Have you noticed that there are often yellow items in scenes? They subliminally tell you where you need to head for or what are useful objects. It's a device that Uncharted used. The difference with Quantum Break is that yellow is also the colour of the Monarch organisation. So there's this brand identity to the game - yellow is danger (Monarch) yet you must go near the danger colour to progress. Remedy put a lot of thought in to how graphic design choices can emotionally draw you in ...
Please can you provide your source? I can imagine that piracy could have eaten in to Sony's profits whereas piracy was close to impossible on Gamecube. But it would have much more to do with that, I think, than with any minor difference in console manufacturing cost versus console price.
Have you got proof that the Gamecube made the most profit in its generation as, despite how cost effective Nintendo said it was to make a Gamecube, which had no complicated Emotion engine in it nor DVD drive, I would still highly doubt that the Gamecube overall made more profit for Nintendo than the PS2 did for Sony. The mass popularity of the PS2 meant that it was often sold at (a higher price (sometimes 2-3 times the price) of the Gamecube. For a month or 2, you could get a Gamecube and Res...
Your prediction that it would die off within 2 years was not without basis - the MegaCD, the 32x, the Saturn. Sega's past history of releasing expensive add ons, abandoning some of their previous successes (like no new Sonic game on Saturn!), coupled with a new entrant in the market, Sony, meant that, unfortunately, Sega was like the Ghost of Christmas Past to many people. And if you didn't like arcade games, or arcade-STYLE games, or RPGS, there really wasn't all that much on it....
They'd said that the PT was more a spiritual introduction to what Silent Hills would be in tone (or technology?) than indicative of the content of most of Silent Hills itself. It's possible that none of the PT might have even been in the game, at least not in the exact same form nor early on in the game. It was a long playable teaser that, by all accounts, required nearly anyone who didn't actually make the puzzles to look up the solution to crack its obscure logic.
More the difference than in Until Dawn, that's for sure, where it takes several badly done QTES to die (or be captured) in a QTE section. As such, your 'literally' makes sense as emphasis in the context of the character in Ryse.
Of course the graphics were inbetween PS1 and PS2... because it was released between PS1 and PS2!
The graphics were closer to PS2 level than PS1 level.
In fact, many early PS2 games did not look as good as Dreamcast games. And Jet Set Radio and Shenmue look great for the time to this day.
Only the first 2 (3 at a stretch) games and Crash Team Racing were any good!
I'm sure they could do a decent PS4 game but I wouldn't expect it to be any better than Donkey Kong : Tropical Freeze on the WiiU so what would be the point other than a cash in? People keep on asking for the very most mainstream old stuff with the indecency of an uninventive necrophiliac!
Uncharted Karting is what is needed!
I remember when a re-release of an old game was something to be excited about - the Resident Evil REmake on Gamecube was totally reworked to take full advantage of the Gamecube's very decent power. Puzzles were changed compared to how they were in the original to keep the game fresh too.
If you don't own Resident Evil 4, do get it. But if you do own it, why feed the regurgitator, no matter how tasty the regurgitation? You'll just make innovation less likely. There...
Because the term 'Xbox' has brand recognition. For all its highpoints and controversial policies and all that, people know the brand, they know the personalities of the brand, such as Phil Spencer and remember the frequent feedback that he gives. An 'Xbox' service might not be the cheapest but it will have regular updates.
Only if you're James Bond.
Sorry but I'm not giving Naughty Dog a pass for the clearly rushed ending to Uncharted 3 which was like an inferior retread of Uncharted 2's ending. Here's a huge city - and you're going to explore a few small corridors of it being chased by supernatural stuff again and you're going to kill the main boss in a QTE.
So if the delay helps avoid that situation, yes it will be worth the wait.
