@ed: Lost customers don't have to be forever lost. And in every company celebrating a new system is quiet a normal thing. Don't reduce the new system to only features you know from ps or xbox, there is much more to it.
Look at their games. They are not as multiplat as you want them to be most of them are exclusive to a platform/brand and for example Alienisolation which is as far as I remember the only multiplatt game is not even created by themselves. Also their quality of games has worsen since their 3er party career (with some exceptions but still) and financially their position has worsen as well.
On there Online front they have gather a capable team (DNeA) and they are building a new ...

If you refer to the NN ID I guess that there is no way to change that at the moment.
They will definitely release it on Wiiu, cause EVERY time the they spoke about it they said that they will release it on Wiiu. Only question is will they release it on NX? No one even knows if it's possible to port it on NX.
There is an option to do that, at least the nickname. Just in case: don't confuse the Nintendo network ID with the Nintendo account.
They will have digital purchase in march sometime. I'm not sure if they can fix this for wiiu as the current system MIGHT be very deep integrated in to the operation system. To fix this they probably have to rewrite the whole thing so it would make more sense to program a whole new system. I expect this for the nx to happen.
@Schiller: There is no evidence for this as all consoles before the wii had more power than it's competition. Stop being so negative as you don't have any facts about nx. BTW there is no path set in stone how a company works, this is something that you don't seem to understand.

Not true! Microsoft actually cares for pc gaming. Why alse would Microsoft put so much effort in integrating the xbox app into Win10 and try to prime their operating system for PC games. Also you have everywhere restrictions and limitations except at gog.
I'd add: FF XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 for NX.

This timeline stuff never was intended to be there. Only because people demaned that, Nintendo started to put all games in a frame. IMO it's fine to have connected games like OoT and MM but there shouldn't be more to this.

It is not better to release the newhardware as soon as possible as VR is right around the corner and also they don't want to harm the stable sales of their current system. They wouldn't earn much influence in the market right now with the current situation. And don't confuse relevance with influence, because the will always be relevant.
