That does only count for Wii and Wiiu. There were times before when Nintendo had the best hardware.
I think it is a mistake to take things from the past and make them a prove for the future, there is no indicator for such things. At that point no one except the guys at Nintendo know what will be ahead.

Also I guess that there will be more things to NX to convince people to get it then just 3rd-party-support (what I think will come). Also target audiences can expand, they are not set in stone. That can be seen on many events in gaming's history.

Not all of them are exclusives many are releasing on PC as well. Console exclusivity doesn't count any more since so many "console exclusive" games came to PC already. But this counts for every game be it on PC or any other console. Otherwise you could say every game on PC is "PC exclusive".

Actually Nintendo didn't say anything about the system except the concept thing. All information are drawn from patents that might or might not be used for the NX. Many Companies patent their ideas in masses so the don't have to deal with patent cases afterwards.
@featuring_dante: I don't think that this is the case because, programming for xbox or ps isn't that different because of their architecture. So publisher make basically more money when put out a game on both platformes. So the situation when the publishers lose money, when he puts the same game on both platformes, is only when people buy it for one of the platformes.
