Sadly, I don't have high hopes for Borderlands 3. It is starting to take on air of Half Life 3 at this point. People have been wanting it for so long now that it most likely won't be able to live up to those expectations. Plus, several people that were key figures involved with Borderlands 2 have left Gearbox. AND, as long as Randy Pitchford is still with Gearbox, I do not trust anything they release.
They are self publishing now. As far as the all digital thing, I don't think that will happen yet.
I agree. If anything happens, Microsoft should try and acquire them. If they are shuttered, I could honestly see Bungie trying to hire as many of those employees as possible.
I doubt they will partner with anyone for publishing. Distribution on the other hand is something totally different. With D3, I could see them going to Epic's Store to sell the game. Especially since there have been things said that hint at them switching to the Unreal Engine which has been needing to happen for a LONG time. God, their engine is old!

I honestly don't think they will stick to the Annual Pass format going forward once this one is done. I believe they did it to satisfy Activision's release schedule.
