PlayDead are an independent company. They would of been crazy not to release it on other platforms. It would of stayed exclusive if Microsoft bought their studio, but they didn't. Their next game won't be out for another 3 and half years.
Alan wake works better in episodic content. An open world setting wouldn't of worked as well with the horror theme they went for. It was just a tech demo back in '06.
