Both. PS4 has nice exclusives and so does Xbox. Less on Xbox but still add in all the games that play best on Xbox One X and it's well worth it to own both.

This is great. It's selling out in Japan and soon the Japanese developed games will be coming to Xbox again.
HDD's sizes and prices have plateaued a bit. External prices and sizes actually seem to be the best value right now. Looking to get some good deals on one this Black Friday. Either the green Seagate Xbox branded 4TB, or just another 8TB Seagate and be set for life. Before anyone says anything about Seagate, they havn't had the problems they used to have for years now.
Yes. Even older games like Gears 3 are looking multiple times better. If you don't have an Xbox One yet, then yes, get the best version now for $500. If you already have one, buy one and sell your old one and make some money back. It's good to upgrade your electronics often so you can sell the older one before they break on you anyway.
The Evil Within 2 is a bit poorly optimized and struggles even on PC
All games supersample on the Xbox One X. They have better load times, more stable FPS, and better texture filtering. So yes, it's just as nice for a 1080p TV.
It's a good idea considering all games play best on Xbox One X, they won't be losing anything in the deal.

Honestly I'm most excited to play the powered up Backwards Compatibility titles on the Xbox One X. Even the one's not officially enhanced with a patch are looking better.
You can do a lot more on a console than just gaming too. What's the point? I've heard mixed reports of if 1080 or 1070ti is more powerful and they are around the same price. So I dunno about that.
What gap? The cheapest you can get a GTX 1080 for is $500. The thing is, you can't do anything with a graphics card by itself.
People didn't believe the early reports of some games running better on the XOX than on PC. The proof is here and expect more reports to come.
