@morganfell I know my PS4 Pro wasn't $500, it was $400. While I do love my Pro, it didn't come with a UHD drive, and it's marginally less powerful than the X1X. So personally I felt just fine paying the extra $100 for the XOX. As far as adding external drives to the totals, that's just kind of silly. I bought an 8TB HDD for my Pro at $180 so that WOULD bring the total up to $580, and btw I don't have sales tax here. Anyway, I'm happy as a clam to own both. Enjoying Hal...

I filled my PS4 Pro hard drive up within a week. So it too needs an external HDD. Hard drive sizes and prices, as well as internet speeds have fallen behind display technology. It's simply a price you have to pay right now. Even people with Steam on a PC know how much space games take up these days. The same goes for the Switch on a lesser scale. It came with enough space for no more than a few games and you have to buy some SD cards if you want more.
