ratchet and sly aren't big enough names and weren't around from the ps1 days to kick start the mascot for the system. Jak would be good but again it wasn't around when the playstation launched. Sackboy is good too but not popular enough and is too late to the show.
These characters are all decent but aren't popular enough. Crash was the best. Crash bandicoot 1 sold about 7 million copies on the ps1. Incredibly popular. This is what you need to help sell system...
Crash should have been sony's main mascot on every console just like sonic and mario were/are for sega and nintendo. A loveable popular kid friendly character that sony's games are desperately lacking. Yet again though, sony have demonstrated that they are idiotic when it comes to this sort of thing. Another trick missed.

good article, immeasurable fail from sony this gen even if the ps3 is my favourite of the three consoles.
Try playing it on pc, it improves the game a lot. It just doesn't control right on consoles. Also, the physics are better than modern day console shooters and they've had 8 years to catch up. The way the story comes across helps you care about the characters around you and the environments have infinitely more freedom than your modern day-hold your hand down a corridor- shooter.
I just wonder if Agent may turn into a ps4 launch title.

But we already know what to expect from the gameplay once the game has been announced... it's not like ooohh I wonder if GoW Ascension will be an fps?! We know already what to expect from the game. We would be in so much more awe if they announced the game then hit us immediately with the gameplay.
Sony are actually morons, they should be saving this stuff for e3 otherwise what is the point in them being there to present a show. They do this every year, revealing all their games before the show.

I agree, Dwayne Johnson is huge, shredded and has a great voice. This guy is way too skinny and puny and has a very dislikeable face.

Of course we can't pretend that the 360 sales before the ps3 release don't count, but the corollary is also true; we should not misinterpret the ps3 sales because it launched later otherwise we forfeit any logic in its sales time-line. If we abolish that then we might as well argue that the PSP is crushing the PSVita because it has sold 70million units more. How can you dislike the nanomachines explanation? Graphene nanomachines inside your body is literally the technology of the future. Forget that supernatural nonsense. The story as a whole may be told unconventionally, but that is what makes it so interesting and rewarding.
p.s. I remember the Gears fanboys not long ago arguing that their game told a better story than Uncharted xD
sony let the ones go that don't sell and/or are lack memorable characters. Which pretty much means most of sony's games.
