Stiggs is on point on this one.
No matter how you try to slice it, piracy is wrong at the end of the day.
The real main reason why people pirate is because they can do so with little to no consequence. That's what it boils down to. You can't afford it, you want to demo it, the game isn't available in you country, yada yada yada yada, but I bet if there were was a high liklihood of you getting caught and some serious consequence to follow, you woul...
Too much quality being offered.
Even haters are finding less and less reasons not to pick up the console.
Ok, so how much of a loss is 'too much' in your opinion then?
@BlackTar
I'm not saying that they should make a cheap product in order to meet a cheap price. If the experience is poor nobody is going to buy it no matter how cheap it is.
I mean how much do people think PSVR or VR in general costs to make? If I had to guess I'd say around $400-$500. Sony has been on the record saying that they would take a loss on VR. Selling it $100-$150 cheaper wouldn't be the worst lost they've taken.
If this is true it's DOA in my opinion.
We've seen how well consoles released at similar prices in resent memory sold. Now consider that PSVR is essentially a peripheral and consider how well peripherals for consoles sold in the past, $400-$600 seems like you're asking for failure imo.
Do you know how much it costs to make PSVR though?
Sony was willing to take a $240-$300 loss on the PS3 at launch: http://www.ign.com/articles...
So if it costs around $400-$500 to make a PSVR headset a $300 price tag is definitely within reach.
Those are different markets though.
Companies can get away with selling a $700 smartphones because consumers are willing to buy it.
Try selling a $700 console with "smartphones" as your reasoning for the pricing and see how far that'll get you.
That's what I was thinking.
I'm pretty sure Oculus isn't taking a loss at this price. So all this talk of PSVR costing $500 is bit over-reactive in my opinion, especially considering that PSVR is in all likelihood cheaper to make.
I think Sony will be willing to take big loss in order to get a good install base going. $250 for headset alone, $300 for headset+camera, and $350-$400 for a variety of bundles that include headset&camera + anything ...
If consoles couldn't move at $600 and $500 price points no way VR will.
PS VR will definitely launch under $400 or else it's DOA.
From a pure business perspective, software is where they make the money anyhow so releasing on PC doesn't hurt MS in anyway and in actuality aids them.
Sucks for people that like to make "true exclusive" lists, but in reality none of that really matters. People buy what they like for whatever platform they like.
If you enjoy the console gaming space you'll get an XB1 for it regardless of PC availability. If you build a PC for it, to MS you...
Haha, Jorbro one-upped Genuine
lol
lol so you guys rather the game release at the scheduled time guaranteed incomplete?
How about this:
"A delayed game has the potential to turn out great, but a rushed game is forever bad"?
I honestly didn't think Scalebound would get pushed to 2017.
I fully expect ReCore to get delayed to 2017 as well as we haven't even seen gameplay from it at all.
I don't know what to think of Horizon. I don't think it'll be the delayed, but then again I thought the same thing of Scalebound so anything can happen.
@IamTylerDurden1
* * * "Ppl are unrealistic, do u realize that even at $400 they would likely take a loss"
"I personally think $349.99 or $399.99. I wouldn't be surprised if it was more" * * *
I'd be shocked if it's more than $399.99. Remember Sony called $400 the magic price point for the PS4 so no way VR is costing more than that.
I think VR pricing $100 less than the launch price for the PS4...
Yeah Sony wanted it to be as successful has the Halo franchise, but they never "branded" it as such. It was the media that made those claims in previews for KZ1 and if I'm not mistaken Sony didn't even own GG at the time.
You could go into more detail like you did in your remaster and best console exclusive section instead of just saying "can't compete" but all in all I'm surprised that your assessment is better worded than that of article given that XB1 is your preferred platform(absolutely nothing wrong with that) and the author is supposedly the king of objectivity.
I agree with most of your comment, but Killzone was never a Halo killer. KZ doesn't play like Halo at all. Only the media brought up that notion, not Guerrilla Games or Sony(although I'm sure Sony bought GG with the intention of KZ becoming it's Halo in regards to it being a super popular and acclaimed franchise).
Also If memory serves me correct Shadow Fall does not have aim assist at all although KZ2 and KZ3 does. KZ2 upon its release had the least amount of aim...
Want to talk about hypocrisy?
"infamous launched to mixed reviews"
"Sunset overdrive received great reviews".
Yet both games differ by 1 metacritic score. That's hypocrisy if I ever seen it.
The comments page solidifies what you've always said about the Sony fanbase??? Why? Is it because... gee i dun kno... perhaps maybe their opinion don't align with your own??? Besides for comments like Genui...
***"" "If you aren't a fan of Bloodborne then you are this skeleton." Wao... ""***
Yeah, if someone made a comment like that about the XB1 like:
'if you aren't a fan of Halo and Forza then you are this skeleton',
Septic would lol at the notion of you being a 'gamer' and claim that this is the reason why his despise for "a certain contingent of 'gamers'" is a valid one. Bu...
Didn't expect this-- at least not XB1 and PC versions releasing at the same time. Makes you wonder about Scalebound and others.
@ThePope
The difference is you knew SFV was coming to PC from the jump. Can you tell me for certain that prior to today you knew QB was coming to PC never mind the same day as the XB1 version?
Had someone claimed that prior to today they would be labeled as a troll whom suddenly has a beefy PC at the ready at his...
