@moldybread
The camera has been sold as a standalone since the PS4 launched. So naturally the VR HMD has to be sold on it's own as well regardless of how much it sold.
Thought this was common sense...
Don't know why you take sooooo much issue with them announcing the HMD alone.
People are taking issue that others are happy with the $400 price?
People care waaaay too much.
Hmmm, interesting.
If it ends up being $600+ with games being forward and backward compatible I just might be okay with it as it's now just merely a premium option.
Rumor has it being $400 last time I checked though. If that's ended up being the case that'll be a slap in the face for early adopters in my opinion. Most would have waited if they knew about it.
But I like the notion that you brought up though.
"Sony does no wrong in their eyes."
Whelp... same could be said about you... for a different company of course! ^_^
Something about glass houses...

This SCREWS early adopters over BIG time if true.
And the rumor has it coming out THIS year, WOW.
Screwing early adopters over is a huge no-no. They are the loyal customers and the ones that will watch E3 if this is announced and will be PISSED.
Huge mistake if true imo unless they have some sort of upgrade option.
Oh lol. I was one of them lol, but I was expecting the headset itself to be $250 or $300 not the bundle though, that would have been an insane prediction.
Keep in mind that Sony apparently isn't taking a loss with PSVR. Those $300 or less predictions were under the assumption that Sony would take loss since they were on the record saying they would.
I was expecting $250 or $300 for standalone headset and $350 for headset & camera and $400 for a bundle like the one we see here.
$400/$500 is the reality of what we got. I honestly don't see it moving huge units beyond launch at that price. But then again I've never tried VR before so I don't know if the experience is truly worth that price.
Time will tell I guess.
* * *"well at least all those people hopeful of a $300 price point can be quiet.. :P"* * *
Huh?
Why would anyone expect the bundle to be $300 when the HMD itself was $400?
@starchild
The thing is the PS camera has been sold separately since launch. Was that the case with Rift? If not, hence why Rift must come bundled with the HMD.
Sony has to have a stand alone HMD because the camera required was sold separately from the jump. So the standalone sku is to accommodate those that already have a camera.
Seems like people are just upset that Sony is saying PSVR is $400? Which in turn they believe makes other VR devi...
You forgot to include the price of a television set.
Oh, and don't forget the price of a house to play in...
And the electric bill as well and.........
Why are people acting like they didn't know that the camera was required for PSVR?
Why are people acting like there WOULDN'T be a standalone PSVR HMD without the camera included?
Expect to pay more money than you thought you would? Not really. We a...
It was a joke I think.
Abriael usually has something like XB1/Windows10 exclusive or PS4/PS3/PSVita exclsuive in the headline.
I think he was poking fun at that.
This article and those supporting/defending it are making no sense to me at all.
What is it that you want? Sony has already said that they will have a bundle so I don't understand the issue?
Unless you guys wanted Sony to bundle the camera with the headset at the $400 price point in order to not "fool" you into thinking that is the true price of admission into PSVR?
But then wouldn't you guys complain that the headset should...
* * * * *"There are just as many people who would buy an Xbox One over a PC because they are not PC gamers."* * * * *
I agree. This won't affect console only gamers. I was never arguing that in the first place though. I'm saying that to those that look at all options, the XB1's value has taken a hit.

$400?
I want to say DOA sooo bad, but $400 was the max I had going for it.
It'll move units, but won't fly off the shelves at that price imo.
Could have sworn they have.
Jak II and III are not open world?
* * * * *"So is an Xbox One."* * * * *
You're gonna have to show me a list of PC exclusives that will now be console exclusive to XB1 before I agree that the XB1 is a solid alternative to someone considering a PC.
* * * * *"Why is it that people are only on the fence about buying an XB1 but not the other way around for PC? This is what is so strange about your arguments."* * * * *
There's nothing strange about it a...
Holy Moley!
DarkKent just showed off that S on his chest!
@red
The thing is the PC is now a solid alternative to the XB1, especially if XB1 is not your primary console. People now have a choice to NOT get an XB1 if they want to play XB games. Also, you don't have to worry about not being able to will friends if crossplay increasingly becomes a standard feature in games.
There's a reason why a couple of months ago you&...
Well, believe it or not there are people that won't buy an entire console just so that they won't be associated with a certain group of people.
Hell, someone on this site made an article and listed it as a reason to NOT the console itself.
Just wow!
* * * * *"what i do take issue with is their price reveal, it was misleading because it wasn't until afterwords they announced a $499 bundle. this to me is a bit of deception to make the focus on the $399 price when in fact psvr needs the camera to work and controllers for some games."* * * * * *
You're agenda is so obvious it isn't even funny...
Your issue is that they didn't announce it at the same time? And thus deceptive?
