It's not marketed as a family console. The preview trailer did no such thing. Switch is going to be something everyone gonna need of their own.

Well the western games won't be the appeal. It will be the Nintendo, Indies and Japanese games.
Trust me. Starting 2017 you will see this. It going to be like the 3DS in terms of support possibly even more depending on what coming.
It probably the western publishers doing this. If you look at the Indies and Japanese Developers they are stated that they plan to announce their games or have titles coming and they want to bring their franchises to it while the Western devs all said the same thing "Congrats Nintendo, We happy to be you partner and we have no games coming to it at the moment."
If you expecting western support then might not really happen but Japanese yes. It part handheld. Japane...
Also the fact that this if western publishers does take the Switch seriously then it will be the first game system they actively support that a handheld as well.
Performance is already covered, Nvidia already stated it will have great performance.
Third Party is going to be there. The Japanese developers are going to love it. Because they have no boundaries.
They can develop a game for Handheld audience while still releasing on Home Console without sacrifices.
This is something they been trying to do with the PS4 and Vita combo. There even a rumor going around that some 3rd Party dev in Japan are bring the title...
Either way. Whether they support it or not. The Third Party games that will get the most attention will be the Japanese games.

Atlus - Shin Megami Tensei, Etrian Odyssey and maybe Persona Q sequel
Platinum Games -Bayonetta 3, The Wonderful 101 sequel or a new game with Nintendo is possible
Bandai Namco - Pokken Tournament update maybe with Scizor and Darkrai added and some other games
KOEI Tecmo - Definitely going be either port or releases new titles

Nah that is not Splatoon from the Wii U. It showed a new map, extra hair styles and MUCH MUCH better graphics.
As for Mario Kart it basically a updated version of the Wii U version with the return of Two Item Slots, King Boo and possibly even more characters and stages.
