The winner was Microsoft but Sony undoubtably has the better first party stable. The talent development wise is unmatched by any publisher. The only reason you need to use the windows store is if you want the free digital copy across all of your platforms. If you have a slim, Scorpio and a PC for example, buying once will get you the game on all 3 (my guess). So far it's only slim and PC but Xbox live is what allows that.
