Difference is Sony lobbed the PS Slim and PS Pro next to one another while MS wanted the S to be an option for people while they worked on getting support for the Scorpio and finalizing specs so it's right. Obviously they don't want a repeat of the 360s debut where they had to pay millions to add more RAM to each 360.
