Robinhood? Epic is worth way more than Valve...
Tencent--one of Epic's largest investors-- is the most profitable video game company in the world. They made 20 billion last year.
This isn't a robinhood moment at all. This is two behemoths getting together to operate at a loss in an attempt to muscle out the competition.
What would you like them to do? They are going to be announcing a new VR system and new controllers in the next 2 or 3 weeks. They might even announce 3 games that they are rumored to be working on.
Here's what you've got to remember. Tim Sweeney and Tencent want Epic to compete with Steam. Valve want's Steam to compete with Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo.
Epic is building a store. Valve is maintaining a feature-rich platform that has a stor...
the indie publishers and smaller studios aren't even allowed on Epic, Origin or Uplay
@harmny
they did it because it makes sense. Even if Steam took 1% it would still make sense to sell them on your own and get 100%
yeah it's probably not all of the other reasons people have given....
Let's be honest, this is Mad Max. A good, serviceable game that isn't amazing.
On it's own 72 is not crappy. In a market saturated with fantastic titles competing for our attention, 72 is relatively crappy.
It's similar to TV. There are so many amazing shows that it's hard to find the time for something that is merely good.
just don't buy microtracnsactions. Don't even go to the store. They'll learn.
Epic Games Store is just a store though.
Steam is Platform supported by hardware and features that has a store inside of it.
If Epic is only interested in being a store, they should probably start selling Steam keys like Humble, GMG, Amazon... because people love those stores.
Meanwhile Valve released a bunch of updates and fixes for Steam last night.
@zacfolder
No, but it's a stealth adventure game that I played with dual analogs. Latency with analogs isn't as noticeable.
It's probably noticeable with a kb+m in CoD, DOTA, CS:GO or Battlefield, Fortnite... but I don't play with kb+m. Also, most of those types of games are exclusive to other platforms.
There were a handful of times when my connection slowed and what happens is it affects sound and resolution first. ...
seriously
I imagine it's hard to make when you are trying to make VR versions of all three while inventing new VR equipment and controllers at the same time.
Gabe mentioned in the past that he's jealous of Miyamoto and how he can design hardware and games at the same time.
They've been focusing on hardware and software for hardware for the past few years. the controller, the controller configurator, Vive, Index, Knuckles, steam link, the failed steam machines, steam link app for Raspberry pi and android, big picture mode.
They stopped making games because in that time they've changed from being a s...
PSNow does indeed exist but it requires Playstation hardware. At a minimum it requires a Playstation controller and for someone to know about and download the the PSNow application, and make a PS account. I know it doesn't seem like much but it's still a hurdle that most people can't be bothered with.
Stadia will work as easily as youtube. Everyone in the world uses youtube. People that have never bothered with games will be stumbling into games.
PSNow is slow. Google's beta was much better.
I played Assassin's Creed Odyssey for 80 hours during the project Stream beta last year. It didn't suck, it was really good. It actually runs worse on my PC.
You can play 99 cent games in your car. You can play a game for 20 mins on your toilet.
I'm referring to movies,music an TV all going digital.
I don't quite understand. If the government owns it and the government collects taxes in many areas of their extraordinarily large tourism industry... they should be able to easily shuffle money around to rebuild their largest tourist attraction in order to keep the industry going. Paris is the number one tourist destination in the world.
Were they really just basking in all of these billions for the last century with no insurance plan?
This is like ...
@asuka it's irrelevant because we don't play games on consoles...
