No. It can be done. Hardware has nothing to do with it. The problem is bandwidth and MS/Sony being greedy bastards. Dice have stated they have run more players on consoles and it worked fine.
People have alraedy soloed platnum difficulty. With that said... how do you kill that which has no life?

Not really. It's only because the current generation hardware is older than Moses. Console gamers such as my self are actually playing on PC for better graphics. If BF3 on console had more players i'd gladly play it on my 360 with some buddies.
But the old ass hardware just can do it anymore. Next gen will be the new thing and PC gaming will be forgot about again for another 5 or 6 years and so on and so forth.
It's just how things work.
O RLY? That must explain why developers keep dumbing games down.
Because current generation consoles are old. When the new ones come out PC will be an afterthought again. That's how the cycle goes. Always has been and always will be.
