Aside from taking exception to the 360 menu comment, I have one big issue with this "review." I don't think he actually played the PS3.
In spite of his comments about "spending time getting intimate with the Playstation (sic) 3", all of his comments could have been written by observing gameplay trailers and system specs. He gives no details or personal impressions of gameplay. I am not convinced this guy has ever touched a PS3.
I wouldn't be skeptical of all launch estimates, just Sony's...
If the PS3 had launched with a DVD drive at the same price as the 360, Microsoft would be lowering the cost of the 360 right now to remain competitive. However, as Peter Moore said, when Sony announced the PS3's price, the 360 got an automatic price cut.
Thank Sony for higher console prices.
Fatal Inertia is the only game announced for the PS3 that I have wanted to play (I haven't seen the White Knight trailer yet), so this is welcome news.
I wonder if these games were already in development for the 360, or if the poor PS3 launch spurred this decision. Given a 2007 launch for both, I presume that the former is the case.
Seriously Dude. Don't knock Viva Pinata, or Rare will have to throw down the sequel, Pinatas of War, and that would just get ugly.
Nothing has changed there.
and tell us why it is relevant to us as gamers. Yes, I have at least one PC running Windows, and I am a gamer. I still don't find this news relevant to me as a gamer.
Also, PS3fan doesn't have a gaming-centered reason for the post. Check his post #9. He talks about choice between Linux and Microsoft. He had a chance to step forward with his game-related motivation, and he didn't.
Furthermore, stepping beyond the facts present in this post, are you at all fam...
I understand why he did what he did. In truth, he is probably just confused. Here's why. News about Sony's poor financial health is acceptable news on a game blog, because it is very relevant to the future of the PS3. PS3Fan probably thought this "news" item would be taken in a similar vein. What he fails to understand is that the news about Sony's financial health (or similar news about Microsoft of Nintendo) is not relevant because we (necessarily) despise the company, but be...
This is "news for gamers" in what way?
I will be using the extreme content filter for myself, not my kids. Don't assume that everyone is as callous as you.
The article said THROUGH September. That means that all hardware sales of the Xbox 360 in the U.S. since launch through September have equaled 2.7 million units. No flame, just a correction.
That is still not too shabby, given the lack of massively anticipated titles to date. The combination of some killer apps dropping (and already dropped - see Splinter Cell), the holiday season approaching and plentiful hardware supply will be good to Xbox 360 sales.
Powe...
Where are the games that are going to appeal to the Japanese gamer? Genji is the only one that would appeal to that demographic. Two shooters, some sports games and a racing game that is not Ridge Racer. This is a flop, software-wise, in Japan.
They should have some more Japanese-centric games in their launch window, but this lineup for launch DAY speaks volumes about Japan's importance to Sony this generation.
Link please?
As a matter of basic console strengths, you should be incorrect. It is my understanding that, as a basic tenet, the PS3 has an advantage in drawing geometry, while the 360 has the advantage in particle effects.
Irregardless, please supply a link to statements made by the developers to the effect that the PS3 version will look superior to the 360.
It is only funny if you never bought into Sony's claims from the beginning. If you have let yourself be deluded up until now, you are experiencing one of two things: denial or horror.
You don't see a marked difference between the first screen and the second two? 'Cause I sure do...
If you have nothing to show, but don't want your consumers to jump on the other guy's bandwagon, you need to lie yourself blue in the face. Every day that Sony delays a gamer from purchasing a 360 is a small gain for the PS3. Even if that gamer purchases a 360 later on, the PS3 has still won a little bit from the delay. Why? Because developers/publishers make decisions about game releases based on installed user base (among other things). If Sony had told gamers months ago that they were...
Wasn't there a proposition put forth that PS3 owners leave their consoles on when not playing so that some university could utilize the power of millions of Cell chips across the world to do some kind of crazy research? That proposition suddenly became a little more expensive.
It sounds an aweful lot like what Xbox gamers say about the breakdown in price of one year of Xbox Live. I think it is something like 14 cents per day...
Thanks for the link. I do realize that it is early still. I look forward to Sony finally bring something new to the console market with this kind of connectivity. Hopefully, it will be something new that will benefit gamers with some kind of gaming functionality that deals with, you know, games. That's right, gamers gaming with games.
Is there any reason why Nintendo couldn't do the same with the Wii and DS, aside from Nintendo viewing online gaming as some kind of second class...
But why male models?
