I wasn't impressed with Gears of War 2's use of the unreal engine.
Washed out, lighting was worse than the first gears.
Killzone 2 shouldn't of just gotten an honorable.freaking.mention.
Anybody with a brain, and an open mind can at least admit that the game looks damned gorgeous.
jesus.
I deleted Nuts and Bolts five minutes after playing the demo.
Wasn't impressed.
I mean, presentation wise, this was RARE for god's sakes,
not some BS indie studio making XNA games.
I expected better.

The fact that this question exists makes me sick.
We are a society that craves gimmicks.
Morituri.
You do know that judgment is always subjective.
So, what you think looks like a masterpiece, I could say looks like crap.
Although that's typically never the case.
Alan Wake will compete with Uncharted and all of them,
you have my word.
Nice video.
Great atmosphere, great graphics.
sounds like the crunching of the snow and wind really build up the suspense.
I really wanted the creature to not jump on top of that little cabin,
I've seen that too many times.
I was actually hoping that whatever the creature was, hadn't been shown, but you could see the result of those screams (like you'd see one dead body, or just a trail of blood leading off into the woods and a distant cry for ...
realistically, sort of.
But as time passes, you'll find that even when the graphics are cranked to the max, as others have stated, optimization really sets in.
For me, a good example was a game like "Black" for the original xbox.
Even now, the game looks damned good.
Microsoft will continue to bring about better tools for games.
But the quality of a game's aesthetics do not amount to great games,
Little Big Planet had a simpler...

READ. THE. ARTICLE.
thank god the world doesn't rely on the same stupidity that some of you have.
He's not saying "disgusting" in a negative way.
He actually says in the article that "if this game really is real time, then it would be one of the best looking games this generation".
God, people shock me with their horrible inferences/assumptions.
Articles like this make me scream.
I have both a ps3 and 360,
and this "fanboy journalism" has got to stop.
Because fans of that respective console eat it all up like a 500 pound lady at burger king.
amen velaxun, amen.
people don't use standby or hibernate anymore?
I went to sleep with my laptop on standby, woke up, pressed the power button and was on the computer in about 8 seconds give or take.
Just like fast food, people really can't wait for just a little bit, can they?
how could people have the mind to buy a game like this!
that's just crazy, insane!
damnit. All they have is ground shipping?
with the way the economy is going, More and more people will hop right into games like gran turismo.
Driving always beats walking.
am I the only one that thought that Gears of war 2 was an average game with clunky controls, worse graphics then the original gear and a piss poor story?
eh...
wanted was the last of the greats.
I agree with G4S3OU5, it seems like NFS really has lost it's soul, or it's place in the racing genre.
With a game like NFS: Wanted, they took a racing game into a new, fresh direction, with extremely funny cut scenes. Car customization was great, and if my memory serves me right, the game looked damned good too.
They just have to sit down, lean back, and ponder.
The developers need to take a breather for a da...
Man, what ever really happened to trophies.
I remember beating uncharted, playing a crapload of ut3, beating resistance and several other games and THEN trophies came out...
@The Milkman
I agree with you somewhat.
I mean, sure it's always great when a game does something new, and by god, I hope that happens more. The more "by the numbers" kinds of games that most think about when there is a lack of direction is something that every developer fears.
Innovation is great,
but a game like Killzone has enough of those "small details" that make it a game that's not by the numbers, but a game that does what pl...
I love it when Todd says "that's what she said" after telling everyone that both he and Ken have "wide POVs".
Resident Evil 2 was a masterpiece.
It was also scary, unlike 4 and 5.
I have a ps3 and am excited to no end for the third god of war, I thought the first two were absolute masterpieces, and fun as hell to play.
I just hope that the screenshots, although neat in design, looks to have a dated look.
Then again, screens taken by camera from a magazine never really show the true quality.
I am so excited because the first two had phenomenal graphics,
and with the cell processor, and blu ray disc, imagine the possibilities. ...
