I remember seeing gameplay demonstrations of Drake's Fortune before release and thinking it didn't look interesting at all. But when I got the demo, punched out my first bad guy, and snatched the ammo drop before it even hit the ground…the fluidity of that moment captivated me. I've been hooked ever since, and now I'm awaiting the darn UPS truck so I can start this grand finale for myself!
@DragonKnight
You're exactly right. Disallowing an article on N4G is a far cry from censoring it from the internet. News aggregation should aggregate articles of interest. Not every word uttered from every loud mouth on a soap box.
What happened to the ability to rate sites? Removed with N4G's latest update?
I just had a horrible fear: Nvidia Ansel will be compatible with No Man's Sky. Does this mean NMS will be PCVR exclusive and that's why Sony won't let them talk about it (because it might hurt PSVR sales or sales of NMS on PS4)?
I think the point is that it's not lack of power that is the culprit. It's that the devs can't do it with the tools they have. We know this is true because: Naughty Dog. Sucker Punch. Ready at Dawn. There's plenty of power to make stunning games. This means the issue is a lack of time/manpower/ingenuity/capita l/etc.
I prefer Uncharted. I loved The Last of Us, but I like the big action of the Uncharted series more. Really looking forward to Tuesday.
A cartridge, as we remember it, is just an early version of flash memory. Flash memory is very cheap nowadays. As ROM, it is even cheaper. If the NX is something you use at home AND on the go, tiny cartridges for physical media only makes a ton of sense. Take your entire game library with you in something the size of a single bluray case. Coupled with Nintendo's disinterest in DVD/BluRay video playback on their systems, this is not a stretch to suggest.
I upgraded to the collector's edition yesterday. I would have liked the statue, but I really have nowhere for it. I do think the art book would be nice, though, hence the upgrade. I dig that sort of thing.
I thought, "Well, I'll watch it if it's spoiler free." But I don't even like the video thumbnail spoiling an area of the game. So I'm not going to watch at all. :/
I assumed he wants to stab himself in the face because, even with all of Gears' success, he's never created something as incredible as Uncharted.
The perspective on this makes me think VR.
My Amazon account says it's arriving today, but I know it's wrong because there's no tracking number. It's just a glitch that the automated system didn't get the April 26th release date updated to May 10th for the shipping.
Look at the fire crawl up the short wall! That's awesome fluid dynamics, folks.
Would be cool, but I'm still interested in if Rockstar is working on Agent.
What's ridiculous about the speculation we're seeing is that the PS3 also saw chip upgrades during its life cycle, and no one speculated that it would be sold as a new system. I hold to my speculation that, if anything, Sony will market this as the PS4K and nothing more. A PS4 that's built for UHD discs and maybe is even a little better at handling PSVR. Other than that, the chip upgrades are probably just standard updates based on manufacturing and cost differential. Nothing to d...
4k playback of video, but not UHD disks. In other words, you can play a 4K video file from the hard drive, but not from a triple-layer UHD disc.
What wowed me the most was the *way* the mud gets into the tires. It actually fits into the grooves in the tread and gets caked on in clumps. An incredible attention to detail that really adds a lot of weight to the environment.
I think there have been some reductions, but these are incredibly minor, and the new effects overlays make for a softer, more pleasant, image overall. I'm impressed so far!
Photo Mode was one of my biggest wants. My phone, tablet, MacBook, and PC backgrounds will be littered with shots from this game.
I don't know if it's fair to call Uncharted 4 a new benchmark. I mean, Uncharted 2 came out seven(?) years ago, and no other dev has been able to create a game with such a perfect marriage of all of its parts. It will be a long, long time before anyone can get close to doing what Uncharted 4 does. It's not a benchmark, it's an ideal made real.
