There's no reason both statements cannot be true. It also gives them more time to take advantage of the PS4 Pro if you are just feeling left out.
I'd say the upgrades in the PS4 Pro over the vanilla PS4 are a bit more substantial than your analogy is suggesting. If BF1 and Battlefront can run at 60 fps on both the vanilla base consoles whilst looking as good as they do then we have to look elsewhere for the real reason Destiny and its sequel cannot. It rhymes with greedy publisher and lazy developer looking to cash in at the bare minimum.

I purchased it pre-owned at less than half of the current retail price with a game to boot. Even I had waited for Spider-Man to drop, I would not have gotten a better deal brand new or pre-owned. Plus like Morganfell said, I have in the meantime enjoyed some of the exclusives that I had missed out on.
I am most excited for this exclusive than any on the 3 consoles. It is a very big reason I purchased a PS4 late last year
Nah marmite is very polarizing. This game is middling. Few love it. Some hate it. Most are meh on it. There's no middle ground with marmite.
For a short game it sure felt like a long bore of a chore to play. I just wanted it to end because I was so bored playing it.
The amazing graphics that wowed everyone back when it launched had less of an effect on me because I played it only a month ago. After playing graphical powerhouses like Horizon Zero and The Witcher, The Order's graphics did nothing distract me enough from how bored I was playing it.

That's dumb. Minecraft was already on pretty much every platform when they purchased it. Its widespread mass appeal justified the 2 billion dollar price tag.
