But it is a brick. Right up until you solve the problem anyway. It's irrelevant who fixes it for you, whether you do it yourself or get outside help, bricking isn't determined by the solver.
Soft brick denotes that it is a software issue. Even if you are able to fix it yourself, the point remains that in its current state it is bricked.
