This is a rumor. Few Years ago Firefox was "confirmed" to be the new PS3 Browser yet still waiting.
I doubt Sony would add in a 3rd party browser to the PS3. They are all about In-house development, why would they change now?
Any console that doesn't have a physical media drive is going to shoot itself in the foot. The reason being, consoles are the simple to use/hookup and go media center. That is what they have become. Instead of having to have a pc tower next to the TV/Surround sound, you can have a sleek little box that does all that without having to have to worry about Drivers/software/antivirus/etc . Any who has ever gone to 4chan and even had the balls to look at the B section knows they usually have a thread about having fake facebook accounts and start either fake events or they raid other events. They only "show up" Sonys 1st party Devs when you compare their PC offerings to the PS3. But that is comparing Open/Up-gradable hardware to a closed hardware. What EA is going to do is pretty much make a Network within Networks(Live,PSN, PC) Where players can go to see what games each person has played/plays the most. It is going to allow EA to taylor advertising to each person.
They only thing they have done is help Sony in their case against the "Hacker" GeoHotz. With these "waves" of attacks going at Sony Reps and even the Judge himself, he is going to see that anything having to do with "hacking" is not for the better of society and judge against Hotz.
