You just described PC gaming which is thriving and only increasing its user base. I think if these incremental upgrades work similar to an iPhone upgrade then it will be successful.

In the business of making video games which is a very young business, I think management is what differs between the great and good studios. After reading the development hell from games like Destiny and BioShock, I would love to read about the other side of the story at Naughty Dog.

Exactly. Why developers don't outline the rules before the game launches baffles me. You should agree before ever logging on that if you tamper with game files it's a permanent ban.
As a developer it would save them time and money to just ban them permanently. Counter cheating measures are difficult and sometimes impact innocent players.
If they catch you red handed breaking the rules then I think a permanent ban is a good option. People are worried about the population dropping because of bans but it's worse to lose fans who actually play the game by the rules only to have the game ruined by cheaters.

Yeah except flash memory has come a long ways since then. You can get 64gb USB sticks for 5$ on Newegg so it's safe to say that the manufacturing costs between a blu ray and flash memory aren't that much different. Also saving time/energy from writing discs as opposed to storing on flash memory seems more efficient and cost effective.
Actually I was hoping the new consoles would use flash memory instead of Blu-ray discs. The games have to be installed anyways to play from discs nowadays. At least carts and other forms of flash memory have fast enough transfer speeds to save hard drive space.
Would also be nice if they could shrink the size of of game cases. If games were on 64gb memory sticks the packaging could be far smaller.

My fan on my PS4 isn't too loud but if the console isn't standing vertically it just constantly ejects disks. I've tried everything and just can't get the disk drive to stop spazzing. But I'd love to buy one of these two new systems when they arrive.
