I recall them saying they wanted to keep the designs realistic, but yet also cartoony so not too realistic. Barret's arms are still huge as all hell, so there's hope!
Fei and Elly are right up there. Their love transcended multiple life times, and became very convincing as a couple over a long story. Xenogears even has some naked sprite action going on between each other ;)
Nah, let’s get re3 remake out first.
Regardless if you're the developer or publisher you have to pay a team of people to make the game, so it doesn't matter if something is in house or not. SE have been doing almost nothing but taking risks. If anything the old square took less risks and maintained a more consistent game design between all of its primary FF games. You can't tell me FF1-10 has more significant differences between each other than FF11-15. 11/14 and 15 are genre breaking for the series.
Awesome!
I’m impressed. I thought this was going to go the other way so same to you too. Rare moment on the Internet forums.
The fact that many of those games are remakes repackaged is even more reason to call the main series lazy and undeserving of its success. They’re still main Pokémon games that sell ridiculously well and don’t get called out despite being so similar.
I see you're trying to move the goal post. We weren't talking about gens, we were talking about the years all the main pokemon games were released:
Timeline of release years
1996 Red and Green
Blue
1997
1998 Yellow
Red and Blue
1999 Gold and Silver
2000 Crystal
2001
2002 Ruby and Sapphire
2003
2004 FireRed and LeafGreen
Emerald

Look under timeline of release years. It's definitely not every 3 to 4 years for the main pokemon games: https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...
There have been some spans where 3 years in a row a main pokemon game came out and only skipped the following year to come back the next year. And most of the years a Pokemon main game is released, they release two of them. Two games that are ...
Looks like it’s already in the thumbnail
You can say that's how they should do it all you want and people can enjoy them; but they're still lazily made and come out very often. The game design hasn't done anything of note since tag matches.
Like COD it doesn't deserve the sales or reviews it gets since it pretty much copy and pastes itself almost every year. But, unlike COD it also gets fan praise from the hardcore online community despite all the same lazy efforts? BS.
It's been stale far longer than that
Pokémon has to be the biggest anomaly in all of gaming.
-Game design wise, outside of more Pokémon and quality of life improvements it has barely changed since inception in the 90s with the exception of adding online components and tag team matches.
-Still only has one save file per game.
And yet...
-Still loved by so many gamers despite bashing other games for the same problems Pokémon has and is neve...
Overall I like this gen more than last gen due to Japanese developers making a comeback. But there were too many legendary and revolutionary games in the 4th and 5th gen that have lasted through the ages to say this one is the best. Gotta give a gen another generation or two before we can decide on how good it is; that way graphics won’t blind anyone to how good or not said gen really is.
I’m guessing a lot of those are mobile games
Actually Bruce is the cane in Citizen Kane
The hell are you babbling about Kotaku. Get a grip!
4 million is amazing for what was going to be considered a niche title.
It’s been several games after FFX and FFIX (the supposed last traditional main ff games). The sales of the series are still doing just fine.
Hopefully we never go the handheld route again. Japanese developers were so damn side tracked last gen with putting lots of games on handhelds rather than consoles. Better time could have been spent making full ps3/360 versions of those games.
