No thankfully it isn't.
MGS4 was like 50% cutscenes 50% gameplay.
FFXIII is 20% cutscenes 80% gameplay.
The cutscenes are spread over the whole game and aren't in large bulks.
FFXIII pushed PS3 sales to 240k just on the week it released.
So in a sense it did cause a huge impact. Or at least make the PS3 the suitable platform for JRPG development.
The PSM3 review is an IMPORT review of the Japanese version.
I bet the reviewer had no ******* clue at what was going on and just blagged the whole thing. The review sounded like he had never played a JRPG in his whole life.
Gameinformer just gave FFXIII a 9.25/10.
We won't know what the games like until we play it ourselves I guess.
Personally I will enjoy it since I enjoy all numbered FF's.
It does seem like the end of the JRPG is approaching for the West. No way in hell WKC is a 5-6/10 and most JRPG fans who played the game agree. The media thinks different tho :/

Oh and this proves the downgrade was false (not talking about game content).
The final PS3 build has more subtle detail and looks a lot cleaner and crisp over the demo build which was apparently 'downgraded'. It also boasts fixed framerate over the demo build which is the best piece of news to hear. It's crazy how the in-game character model 'almost' looks as good as the pre-rendered even when zoomed up right to the camera.

Pre-ordered this, GOW3, WKC, Yakuza 3 and Heavy Rain.
Surprisingly the PS3 version of FFXIII is the number one pre-ordered game in Europe. Even above all the huge PS3 exclusives :O
FF will always be huge. Cant wait to see how the actual exclusive Versus will sell since it's only available on one platform.
First English review and as expected it receives a great score.
Never doubted. It's FF...will never please everyone but it will still provide countless hours of fun and excitement for the majority.
Mainly because the majority of gamers don't over examine every single thing and just have fun.
Forgot to mention I loved Demon Souls.
What I meant was instead of looking at the overall percentage, look at the score breakdown to the right of the review.
Demon Souls review seems justified. They lowered the score because of the music and story. Demons Souls story isn't anything special. The music is perfect and atmosphereic however there is a lot of repeating and some songs are out of place. They rated it high where it counts at that is the gameplay. Oh and obviously some people respect the game more then others.

You forgot that the 8GB's worth of game data is how it is uncompressed on the PS3 Blu-ray.
They could compress that even further to make sure everything important is on the final disc.

I agree...however more like the FIRST AAA JRPG of this generation. Valkyria Chronicles was amazing however it was an SPRG.
Star Ocean 4 international with all the added features will make it a much better game then the 360 version but it still won't be AAA material....
It would be awesome if for the English release special edition they included bonus extras with behind the scenes development history.
I would love to see the FFXIII production studio and more importantly a Japanese games studio behind all the closed doors.
The games been in development for so long that I'm sure they have many crazy stories about the whole process.
They could have given it a 40/40 or a 2/40 and I wouldn't care either way since it's Famitsu....

This game will bring the killing blow to the 360 in Japan.
After it releases all Japanese devs cannot afford to make flop 'exclusives' for the 360.
From here on out every major Japanese game will be on the PS3.

uuuuh the game has plenty of NPC's and even has 3 whole cities.
There just not cities in the same sense as older FF games.
They serve as areas to fight but they are still cities with buildings and npc's...
