Halo could have been the game to move hardware especially next gen but now anyone could play it as long as they have Xbox one brand if consoles. Gamepass will definitely eat into it's sales btw like the user below said the best selling halo was halo 3 and that was a while ago
To each their own personally speaking new machines should come with gaming experiences only possible on them. If a game which is possible on 12TF/SSD based console can be played on a 1TF console than is it ok to at least wonder and ask if the 12TF console is being held back
Ma had this whole gen to support Xbox one yet they have been playing the wait and see game and now that next gen is here they want to somehow support it while taking full advantage on series x

I fully expect a new Xbox head by mid gen because ps5 will be outselling it and will once again have big chunk of market share so Ms will react the only way they know how to by replacing Phil(who to this point has done a ok job)

Exactly if anything sticking with criss gen titles would be better for don't due to how much market share they gave with PS4 but they are willing to take risks and move forward this industry because they know it's not possible to make games only possible on ps5 to rub on PS4 hardware without making compromises

We will see after launch which approach gamers prefer because both companies are taking on next gen consoles in different ways. It's only fair because they were the ones who have been charging the longest. Sony offered it free on PS3 but no company will simply give up on free revenue when their competetion gets away with charging
I will still take the wait and see approach I do hope you are right and we get free online play on next gen consoles. It's just better to keep expectations low just in case they decide to stay as is or even raise their price

To each their own I personally think Nintendo games get much better media coverage/reviews than either Sony or Ms because most gamers/reviewers grew up playing on Nintendo
