I'm super excited for GamesCom!
Thanks for taking the time to comment. However, we are an Xbox only show, The Xbox Dive. There is absolutely not hate for MS from us, when you can clearly tell by our content. That being said, limiting a games reach is a serious concern for smaller projects and something that has a right to be discussed.
Thanks for your input, but we are an Xbox Exclusive show. The Xbox Dive. It is a very valid question and one that we discussed thoroughly. Thanks for taking the time to comment though.
It is an Xbox Console Exclusive, which is what we were talking about. However, in the video we do confirm that it's coming both to PC and MAC.
Hey, I'm a huge Xbox Fan. I'm not saying they don't DESERVE to have the exclusive. Our topic is more just to the health of running exclusives, especially when they are 2nd or 3rd party. Thanks for commenting.
Let's just say that, we picked the key art for a reason! ;)
@_-EDMIX-_ - this is also releasing on PC, which we cover. As for owning IP, companies do it all the time, they are mostly considered 2nd party games at that point. Studio MDHR can own the rights to the IP and still make a deal to ONLY release that game on the Xbox One. That means that Sequels, or "Definitive Editions" or something like that, could in fact come to other platforms. Unless, of course, the deal they signed with Microsoft clearly states that it can't.
This is probably the most important part. The Devs are in charge of their creation. If they feel they are being compensated properly, then nothing else really matters.
Agreed. We talk about Cuphead, because it was just recently announced, but we also mention exclusives as a whole. Exclusives aren't going away, but it is a good talking point.
I totally agree. I said it in the show, but Exclusives only ever benefit the Platform holder. It's not good for developers OR consumers! Unless you are a troll who just wants to rub it in your friends face that they can't play something. haha
I agree and I'm sure Microsoft paid them well for getting exclusive rights to it.
Not sure I'd call it a must. While I agree and enjoy playing games like that, I think it's more of a dying trend and we are now in the minority. I don't really fault the developers too much. You mention Diablo, and that's a great example, but I would argue that it's hard work to get a super polished, super graphic intensive game running well in Split-Screen. We will still see it, but I do think it will be less and less.
I agree with you here. Co-Op isn't dying, but it's definitely evolving. Games like Destiny and Overwatch and Sea of Thieves and Anthem are great examples of what the future of Co-Op games will probably look like. I just see less AAA, single player, story driven games including Co-Op and that support being moved to games as a service.
We don't believe that Co-Op games will ever go away, which we talk about in the video. However, they are being included less and less nowadays, especially in larger AAA titles. There will always be a handful of games that support it I believe.
It's not really an article, it's a video discussion. It's an open topic about how important Co-Op games are in today's landscape, and we spend most of the time talking about Local Co-Op. We realize there is an audience, but less and less games are including Co-Op, so we wanted to discuss what that might mean for games in the future. If you want to actually know our thoughts you should watch the video.
Ah man, Power Rangers Mega Battle is a personal favorite of mine!
Having Retro make a brand new, original, Co-Op FPS is a fantastic idea that I've never even thought about! Great...now that's all I want! haha :)
I totally agree. I kind of mentioned this in the clip, but as an adult, it's much harder to coordinate with friends to be online and together to play a game. Those nights are much fewer and farther between then they were back in college when I would play almost every night with the guys in the dorm. Ah....the days of LAN parties! haha
Ah man, I agree about more beat'em ups. The last game I remember loving in that genre, was the Scott Pilgrim brawler that was released on XBLA. I'm going to have to go check if that's backwards compatible! :)
Right after we finished recording, I had one more great idea pop in my head. Alan Wake! That game is made for the small screen. Imagine a Live Action Alan Wake series, with a Twin Peaks/Stranger Things kinda vibe. Sign me up!
