....they have tweaked the browser to work better with xmb update 3.10, its mentioned in the video on ps blog :)
I believe firefox used Gecko rendering engine, and chrome uses Webkit, like safari.
I agree Chrom would be a much better fit, better gui tech built in as well. Only thing is it would probably take long...theyve taken ages to get even a mac version out I can see it taking till March 2010 or something for Chrome on ps3.
However it could be great marketing for both Google and Sony. Ps3 fans who all of a sudden have a great, quick browser, realise they are using Google...
Umm they stopped losing a couple hundred a long time ago now, last I read its something like $15-30 a unit now
Gamer71,
In the UK it was all over BBC news and the BBC radio stations... it kept coming up like this massive news story. So definitely mainstream over here ;)
Patents are less about an idea as in how you execute them. In-game soundtracks is not a new idea.
So MS MAY have one method done, but there's nothing to stop Sony from doing it in other way... will just take time and resources.
People complaining really need to get a clue.
Why are Sony giving us these features like facebook quicker than x game chat??
Maybe because they are easier to implement???
If you had a checklist of things to do, 20 of them small and done in a sec, 2 massive ones that take longer.. And yo'u've got competition who have these 2 big features and are adding the small ones all the time and publicising them-- what would you do??
Set aside a small t...
Think its due to Install base guys.... Don't most sell better on PS3 in mainland Europe (ie. not UK)??
And Holland is Awesome :)
Complaining about patches being needed after every major update???
MS (Decades of experience focussing SOLELY on software design)= patches after release of Windows Vista, Windows 7, patches after every service packe etc etc.
Apple: Decades of experience focussing PRIMARILY on software design)
Patches after OS X 10.1 10.2 etc all the way through to their latest 10.6 with a well publicised bug that PERMANENTLY DELETES YOUR DATA.
"I don't know why Sony didn't just copy Apple by making a slick, secure, stable. powerful, multasking OS based on Unix. OS X is the best OS on the market and used in Macs, Iphones and Ipod Touchs. Show some vision for the future Sony like Steve Job did with Apple."
Exactly how long has the Apple OS existed??? Since the early 8o's you plum!! You expect them to come out with OS X in a few years??? Plus there's this thing called patents so they can't just go ahead and copy...
(Great comment) "I would expect this to be priced the same as the existing Sky Player. They should be offering this for free, given the massive revenue they will generate from advertising. Normal TV, they know what you subscribe to, nothing more. Sky player on xbox, linked to your profile, they know exactly what you watch, when you watch. Adverts will be able to be targeted at an exact demographic (something an advertiser will pay a fortune for)."
P.S. You need a PC fo...
From a user review on Metacritic, where it currently stands at 9.6... from 443 Reviews!!! INSANE!!!
"Two armed guards chatted obliviously as I looked into the kitchen of a dilapidated Nepalese apartment. Careful not to be spotted, I pulled myself up and took aim at a propane tank. "Boom," whispered Nathan Drake, just before I pulled the trigger, blowing the unsuspecting guards into oblivion. That was the moment that I realized I was in Drake's skin, he was in my he...
Your calculations are off by the way, at 100 loss per unit their loss would be like 50m.
If each of those 500,000 buys just ONE game at $60= $30,000,000 :) Then theres peripherals etc with huge mark ups also selling way more...
And I dont think they are losing quite that much per unit. Kaz said they do lose Some, but dont think its quite $100, half that I'd say.
You can see why the controversy, video games are traditionally seen as for teens, and some probably see it as a slippery slope: first a flaccid 3d penis... next people are having graphic sex in games
But it seems you're missing that multiple sites, including the one we are commenting on compared even Uncharted 1, a late 2007 game, to Gears 2, released last xmas 08, and said its a better technical achievement. Of course theyre not comparing to Halo 3 seriously, that would be a joke.
Also I hope youre not one of those who screamed inferior ps3 when one of the many comparisons pointed out *technically* lower resolutions for ps3, where it made a minute amount of difference to th...
I think we can all agree that the nature of the ps3 means games have to be in development for longer...as the guy above me pointed out: the 360 is easier to program, its designed like a Pc pretty much right? So there will be less optimizing involved when going from their developer Pc's just scaling back certain features I presume?
Whereas for Ps3 they are trying to get all sorts of stuff running on the 6 Spu's as well as the main CPu and Gpu. How many devs have talked about how c...
Dude Bubbles for the funniest comment I've read all day!!
"They stood in one place getting lit up with every bullet that was thrown at them. That would kinda explain the getting shot part.
Seemed like they had no idea how to zoom in and fire the lighting, and pretty much just jumped around looking silly" ------LOOOOOL!!!!
The guy did gloss over A LOT of what sites like IGN talked was good, like the karma system, the merits of playing both as go...
I dont see how you can say their review is spot on when a major downer on the score is for lasting appeal..yet they acknowledge they havent even run through as "goody two shoes" Cole as they put it: "we should mention that we've spent the majority of our play time focusing on the evil path."
...While Greg has played both extensively, says both playthrough are worth it, and gives da-daaa, a much better score for lasting appeal, and better overall.
A lot to say on your comment, how bout we start with a few snippets of this paragraph from your 'Critique on PS3(Fans)'
1- "The only real issue i see AT ALL,in the case of exclusives, is that there aren't alot of people willing to develop exclusively for the 360.." (Hence....there aren't enough good exclusives for 360???)
AHEM: "Aren't willing?" These Devs are paid/rewarded/supported you plum!! Thats the point of in-house or 2nd party devs!!! Gre...
But tell me how they manage to flash psp's? is there someway to spoof the digital signatures?
I do realise that is would be much harder due to the design to write the conventional type of malware..
