There hasn’t been a Castlevania game released in a couple years and those were ports.
Because it’s always slanted to push a narrative.
Ezio,
Journey and Tell Tale’s The Walking Dead took GOTY several years back. Not too often indies take GOTY though.
BugSnax has surprisingly one of the deepest stories and is one of the most well written games of the year. I platinum’d it after about 12-14 hours and it was quite a charming and interesting title. I think it’s definitely worthy of a second game or DLC. Highly recommend this and it’s free on PS+ so lock it in your library.
Switch owner but I am holding out for the PS5 version of this. Platinum’d Hollow Knight Voidheart Edition on PS4 and I was beyond impressed with how deep and engaging this world was. It’s a little bit too obtuse and the difficulty can be a turn off but there is so much to explore. It would have been better to not tie the compass to a charm slot and the game should have had a lore journal (since statues and areas have poetic clues that are very cryptic). This game almost requires a community a...
This should be part of the PS+ Collection indeed. It’s really great but needs a solid base to survive.
Astro’s Playground
PS5 plays all PS4 games and adds boosts in performance, visuals, and fidelity but PS4 is better? I’d disagree on this one.
Have you played TimeSpinner? It’s lighthearted but still one of the best MVs on PS4/Switch/PC. It’s a CronoVania and probably my #2 after HK. I platinum’d both games and they aren’t too similar. TimeSpinner feels more like an SNES love letter and Hollow Knight is more obtuse and abstract in its design and storytelling.
Kotaku on console launch: “The rising death toll, economic devastation and daily complications arising from the ongoing covid-19 pandemic made 2020 a weird year to try to launch new hardware, but companies marshalled on and did it anyway.”

Terrible magazine but any HK news is good news
This is real news. It’s refreshing.
TLOU2 is incredibly paced and the story was excellent. I just really loved the world of Ghost of Tsushima a little more but both were masterpieces for me. Ghost’s Act III intro cut scene is one of the most powerful moments in gaming in my opinion.
(Patiently awaits the downvotes)
“...good people of Twitter.” = oxymoron of the year.
Woah woah... hol up a minute...
Where in the flip are BugSnax and Astro’s Playground?
Yes. It’s a haven of really evil things and the worst of humanity.
TIL: there are at least six other Xuan-Yuan games.
@Fox,
But he did!

There were 3 main NG games for the HD generation that included remasters or enhanced editions and a DS game. The series fell off and needs a good restart. It doesn’t have to be #4 at this point.
