Half this award show is about twitch gamers and streaming/multiplayer. It’s a raging joke and embarrassing. The gouge out awards on the sideline that are more meaningful. Geoff tries his hardest but it’s not great.

As a massive fan of the original two Oddworld titles, let me say that New and Tasty was weak but SoulStorm is complete garbage. Unbalanced, unfun, and frustrating is just the start. The level based system is stupid, the collectibles are lazy and are not creative. The charm of the visuals are gone. The aiming system and weapons are wonky at best. The platforming is sloppy and the enemy AI is junk.
A lot of these games do not hold up as well as you’d think. MGS is pretty archaic for newer gamers to grasp. It’s not as bad as RE or Silent Hill but it still plays rough. I think out of the PSOne generation, the most preserved games are 2D like SOTN, Rayman, and my favorite Oddworld games. I agree that FF Tactics is definitely a lasting format.
Agreed. I platinum’d this on PS5 and also the PS4 version. Absolutely a love letter to classic games and the metroidvania genre. I see a really awesome sequel coming from them and that’ll be a day one purchase for sure!
Sucks this game didn’t get as much review coverage. IGN gave it a great preview but refused to talk about it after or even review it.
That’s because China wants your data and monitoring control; hence that is the heart of them forcing online. TIGames rocked it with FIST. Amazing Metroidvania and I with they left CCP and set up elsewhere.
$50 is ridiculous.

Two totally different games. DE is a novel adventure game with a lot of dialogue. It’s more of an interactive story.
Best writing ever in my opinion. Most intelligent use of political and religious verbiage mixed with multiple blended languages and created terminology too. This game is absolutely a masterpiece in dialog. Feels like Crime and Punishment but in an interactive entertainment medium.

The title says the criteria was explicitly written to mention Eternal Darkness. I am happy to see House of the Dead: OVERKILL on here. With the rise of Grindhouse themes in the 2010s, (ie WET), this was one that was both entertaining and camp funny.
It’s really great. It’s definitely a classic style of ARPG but fun and has great combat. Not brutal and lots to do. I enjoy the high fantasy meets Irish-brood in the game.
Putting BOTW at #1 but the Link to the Past near the bottom? No Oracles either? “Excuuuuuuuse me princess!?” Terrible order.
These things are just too damn expensive. I cannot justify spending $500-$1000 on these cabinets when they are only roms running in cheap tablets in an ikea box.

I personally thought RE3 Remake was great. It wasn't perfect but was still a solid re-entry. What I do wish they did (I heard this was the original plan), was make one Racoon City game with 3 stories Claire, Leon, and Jill. They did a good job better wrapping her story into RE2 for this remake and it felt like the third story more than in Nemesis. The timelines wrapped over but this better integrated it in my opinion. It’s rare to find traditional MVs with the is new obsession to turn them all into rogues/souls games. F.I.S.T. Forged in Shadow Torch and Sheepo are traditional and fun. If we are going to evolve the genre, let’s at least be creative and innovative.
F.I.S.T. Forged in Shadow Torch is one of the best MetroidVanias to come out in a long time. It's traditional (not souls or rogue-like) and an absolute blast. I cannot recommend it enough. Platinum'd it on PS5 and the PS4 version that comes with it is a separate list. So one price gets you two games. It's a 9/10 easily.
