Oddly enough I agree with you on what you said. Of course I -do- want a remake, but I also understand that there are definitely contraints of staying faithful. My two biggest fears? One is that they don't do a remake. The second is that they do make a remake but it is so different from the original game that I'm disappointed.
I should also note that my previous post said that I was sick and tired of remakes/spin offs. However, I did enjoy Crisis Core (mostly). However, in many...
Perfectly stated. I don't want them to whore out FFVII anymore. I just want one, last remake. A final goodbye to a great, great game.
No more spinoffs, no more sequels. No more disgusting 'X-2s' and Dirge of Cerebrus. Just DO THE DAMN REMAKE, or make it absolutely clear that you're not going to. What was the point of even making that Tech Demo for the ps3? The biggest co*k tease in the history of videogaming. Ever.
You all have no idea how bad they just stomped on my dreams. I'm so close to saying 'forget you, Square-Enix. I don't need to be a part of your money whoring anymore". They keep milking and spinning off FFVII in everyway except the one that counts... the one that EVERY FAN OF FFVII has begged them to do.. a mother****ing remake...
Way to treat your fans, a$$holes.
To answer your question: Yes. The game is immortal.
Second thing: I understand where you're coming from. To me, Twin Snakes was very, very different than the ps title. The voice acting, music, and cutscenes were different. I mean the cutscenes were bada$$, but I liked the original music and voice acting. It added real emotion; twin snakes was good, but not as spectacular. I'm hoping FFVII doesn't go down the same raod. I deserves better. I mean it..
They're lucky? I think Nintendo is lucky that they managed to get the news out this early. 3rd party developers have two other choices (not including the PC) to develop for. It would make absolutely no sense for Nintendo to be like "Surprise! New controller on the market tomorrow!"
Let's not forget how Eidos managed to botch the PC version of FFVII. Yes, it can be ported to pc and xbox 360, but if they're using the same template that they used for the PC, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's equal.
Honestly, I feel that FFVII should be played by all, regardless of console, pc, etc. Such a good game.
Nice analysis there (no sarcasm). Everytime I see that title my eyes just glaze over and I'm like "Uhhh... oh, that's the Square-Enix thing, right?"
You may be on to something... let's hope that 7 really does stand for something... important.
I've played and replayed FFVII a crap-ton of times. I never tire of it. I just want them to remake it already, they've been teasing us long enough with the prospect of it. I mean what did they expect after making that PS3 tech demo?
A fear I have is that they will remake it, but will not stay true to the original greatness of the PS1 title. I don't want a graphical crap fest. I want final fantasy vii -- again.
I'm definitely getting this game now. Not just because of the bad publicity it's going to get... not even because I want to scorn this angsty, larger than life hater. I'm going to get it because it's going to be a great game; the very reason that Sony should have laughed at this woman when she wrote them a hate letter.
A side note: I don't feel that it's necessary to defend the historical accuracy of the game (i.e people saying that royalty used to be obese and such). The game...
You sound like a guy/girl that's loved and lost... I know your pain. I want to get excited, but I also am frightened of a huge let down. Come on Square-Enix do it right...
One of the more satisfying articles I've read in a while. I have mad respect for Capcom and the developers now. Don't be swayed, make the game how you want to make it.
I agree completely. Reading this 'article' only makes what you said all the more true. They don't necessarily have anything to give an exclusive title to just yet. I feel that if they want to exploit the power of the PS3, then they should just come up with an original idea, an original game. I doubt GTAV would even be an exclusive title. Why not make something fresh?
Is this game even being made... did the first sell any copies? At all? How did that game not do worse than E.T. ?
At least your half paragraph post makes more sense (and is arguably better) than the article itself. I don't agree with you, but I do think that Sony has gone balls to the wall in terms of price and technology... but that's what makes it stand out. We don't need two wiis or two 360s on the market right now. Sony is different but still in the game.
Hahaha I noticed the exact same thing. At first I was like "No way, it must be some clever typo on purpose..." But nope, just fail.
Yes, Nintendo had the most sales in terms of consoles. But Microsoft trumps Nintendo financially as a company. As we've seen from E3, as well, Nintendo has a far more casual fanbase than does either MS or Sony. This does have a relevelant impact: game licensing, peripherals, xbl, etc. So I think that MS is still the giant in that respect.
On topic: As for Square-Enix: we know that they were originally Nintendo and started to create games for the PS exclusively for hardware rea...
MS already paid for DMC4 and now it's FFXIII. I wonder what will be bought out next. I really do think it's the end of 3rd party exclusives as we know it, at least for Sony and Nintendo. I'm just going to be watching the headlines; I won't be TOO surprised if Capcom and Square ENIX start becoming exclusive to MS.
It's all about money, it feels like. And MS has limitless amounts.
After reading the PSU article, I'm not sure what to believe. I hope that they enhance the graphics solely for the reason that I'm debating if I want to lay down 60 dollars on a year old game. Played this on my Brother's 360 and loved it. It looked great and I agree that if it looks 'only' as good as the 360 that it will still look amazing.
However, this porting issue isn't new. we know that 1st party games for the PS3 look amazing and most 3rd party game only match the 360 and...
Testo, the same thing happened to me last night! I played the demo and was like "Yeah...getting this." I haven't bought the expansion just yet, but the original game is addicting as anything. Didn't get to bed until like 4 and I have work today.
